Default Driving impressions of Dragula with a YS Trim

I drove the Formula around a bit last nite, and it was pretty darn cool.

My ghetto looped manual steering takes some getting used to and might be changed soon.

Car sounds mean and I am really surprised how much it cams out.

I will say the exhaust is extremely loud, and I can't see me driving it around my neighbourhood... Think tuned open headers. I might have to get different mufflers.

Have you considered collector mufflers and then a 3.5 inch Ypipe into bullet? That might calm things down a lot

I have seen a couple of cars with that setup and it works great. Another possibility is to run the collector mufflers and then a 3 inch Xpipe and have the pipes after the Xpipe close together and dumping under the axle. You will have good ground clearance and the car will be way quieter. You might even hear the Weldon LOL!

I have competition headers with 12" Borla race mufflers on my YS-trim 414 LS-1. It makes for a very uncomfortable street machine, especially getting five miles per gallon at $6/gal. Thus, it has become a trailered race car.

Sounds like my car. Thumps around and can be heard coming down the neighborhood from three miles away. I can't even fire it up at night, as soon as I roll down the driveway all of the car alarms start going off. That's with dual Borla XR-1's as well. What Chris mentioned sounds interesting. Just make an easy race pipe that you can drop off and you'll be all set. Can't wait to see it.

Hmm that's weird dert, my 388 is quiet as hell with just one one 3" Borla XR-1 muffler, off course for the street I run through a full exhaust, for the track dual cutouts -best of both worlds.

I have a pretty fiesty setup and it's a pretty decent size cam for the solid roller that makes it bump pretty hard. Harold's (Black Sunshine) 396 is dead quiet in comparison. I think that's just the way mine is. Otherwise your setup looks similar to mine.

Well if I want to cruise around in the car I will need to come up with a solution.

I'm thinking these Flowmater mufflers are barely muffling.

ScottWS6 do you still have a Mufflex?

I would not be able to drive my car thru any of the adjacent suburbs to where my car is stored (NW side of Chicago).

might be a good idea to throw on a "sectional" catback that you can drop at the track.

ie: y-pipe with flanges, int pipe with flange over the axle and a quieter muffler that still flows 1000cfm. (like a 3 inch ultraflow dual outlet or something)

you could drop it quickly at the track and be able to drive sensibly on the street...

I forgot about that....
How about dual 3 inch 21 inch long bullets in the Ypipe and then another bullet in the int pipe dumping before the rear axle? That would be a lot quieter than what you have now and be very easy to drop at the track.

I'm looking into a 3.5 X-pipe setup with Spintech mufflers based on feedback from one of my builders.

Spintechs can be just as loud as XR-1's and Flowmasters. It's nothing but a steel box with some rings. Not a lot of baffling in there to muffle it down. That's just my take on it though.
