F1 Procharger vs. Vortech YSi
I am going to install a big centrifugal blower on my car sometime in the next year. My motor is already built for big boost so I'm looking to make around 900+ to the rears. I was planning on going with an F1 Procharger but have also recently been looking at a Vortech YSi as well. I'm just trying to get a good comparison of the two like... which has more boost potential, which is quieter, is one more street friendly than the other, does one sling belts worse than the other, and so on.

I had the YSi, and i think the procharger is a way better option. The YSi is very quiet and durable as hell, but it has a terrible step up ratio. This makes setting up pullies very difficult as i was running a 2.75" to get decent boost. With the F1 you would be in the 3.25" range making belt life much better. Thats my $.02

RMCR (Rocky Mountain Competitive Research) sells a bracket kit for the YSi, a cog drive to if interested. You do have to cut some of the underside of the hood and it's best to relocate the coils with the Thunder Racing kit.

I'm looking for the metal air intake lid that Vortech makes, but I can't remember where I saw it. I looked on their site, but I couldn't find it. I want to use it to retain the use of the ram air no matter which kit I end up getting.

Thanks man, yeah it is and I am trying my best to keep the car looking and performing to the highest it can. For budget reasons, I have been giving some thought lately to just going with a D1SC because this car is mostly street driven anyway and I think it could still make impressive power and be able to run pump gas all the way through (maybe with a little meth/water injection) with a maxed out D!SC.

you are ganna wear out that d1sc more wuickly with it turn all the way up all the time....get a bigger blower such as the f-1a and thisway it won't be so hard on it. the f-1 also has the larger step up ratio

I have seen cars with D1SC setups make over 800 rwhp before. I figured the D1SC would be more steerable in that it will run cooler and not be quite as super noisy. I don't want a supercharger that will pierce my ears while I'm driving in traffic. Is the Vortech a little quieter?
