9.70 street car?

KP could take most of the members cars on here and find at least another several tenths in the 1/4 out of it. I'll bet he ends up with a very legit 9.40 street car with all the creature comforts. Bob

Sounds like fun. In-tank Walbro's not an external fuel pump?

Whatever the old 3.7/7.25 pulley combo makes, on my old 347 that was around 15psi or so depending on the DA. Looking at around 3450 raceweight.

Its not the weight for the HVAC, its in the way I may do like Stenod did on Kyle's car and modify the stock biox for heat only. I'll probably drive it 500 miles a year if that so heat and a/c arent a big deal for me, I'd rather have the room on the RH side..

I ran 9.40s easily with dual in tank walbros with 60lb injectors, its quiet, not to mention the car already has two of them in the tank.

Just curious as to why you didn't try the turbo route this time around?

Dont see any reason to, why deal with, lag, underhood heat. quirky boost/tuning, relocating the radiator etc for a 9.70 car. Cant get much simpler than a blower, done it already.

D1SC will do it just fine footbraking the thing. If I wanted a 7 second car or a 4000lb 8 second car I would go turbo but for what I'm doing the procharger beats a turbo hands down IMO..

The sad thing is your blower cars have been faster than 95% of the turbo cars here but no one can understand why you won't use a turbo. I've owned both, and the simplicity of a centri car can't be beat. Whats the absolute worst thing that can happen on my car? Belt slip. Turbos? Lots of potential problems, some of them very harmful to the motor. Belt slip will never hurt anything, except your ET and maybe your pride.

As far as the HVAC, I removed the whole thing instead of modifying the box and bought one of those Mojave heaters from Summit. More room, less wiring, etc.

Yea, since the blower is pretty much locked to the crank there is no surprises, plus you dont have to putz around with relocating alternators and melting everything in sight. I had a 9 second turbo car 20 years ago before it was 'cool' to have a turbo so its nothing new to me. I have nothing against them at all, just like NA and nitrous, people like different things for whatever reasons.

Yea, I'll do a mojave most likely if I want heat, it doesnt get that cold here and when its hot I have other cars to drive

Damn! How are your cars so fast?

It seems like the auto with high stall keeps the RPM way up there throughout the whole run so it keeps the blower car in its power band better. With a T56 I still dont think I'de be able to achieve those ETs (obviously) or even those traps even seeing as my car weighs about 2600lbs without mme in it. Whats your raceweight going to be for this car?

what rear gears are you running?

I'd definitely like to keep tabs on your progress, I wasn't around whenever you built the first. Good luck with it!

There are faster cars than mine out there..

Yes an auto keeps the RPM fairly high, after the first 40 feet the RPM never drops down below 6200rpm. Main thing is the 60 foots, running low 9s/high 8s I was 60 footing in the mid 1.20s and thats a big part of your ET right there. Its possible to run well with a manual trans, you just need a lot of gear, not be scared to leave hard and drive it like you dont care if it blows up every pass. Or you can just make 1500hp and drive like an old lady and still run OK in the 1/4 mile

Raceweight will be around 3450 on this one.

I will run a 3.70 gear, same as my other car.

Few more pics, mostly taking things apart and a lot of cleaning up, waiting for the new k-member/A-arms so I'll do the front brakes while I'm waiting, going to do one of SJM's ABS delete/line lock kits as well. Have to get the engine out one of these days..

Next the dash will come out, HVAC will come out, sound deadening behind the dash will go as well as carpet insulation (going to keep the stock carpet). Plenty of stuff to do while waiting for parts

So you are gutting it for mid to high 9's?

I'm sure you can hit mid 9's with the D1 and all the creature comforts still in the car
