Default New car for 2009 build, D1SC/347

Already got it pretty well apart.

Plans are 9.60-10.0 ETs, very similar to my old car but a little more street friendly. Going to keep the stock seats in it most likely and stay with a 6pt roll bar. HVAC will be gone, along with cruise/TCS etc. I'll keep the power steering and brakes.

But underneath it will be pretty bulletproof, Moser M9 (thanks Bob at EPP), all UMI chrome moly suspension, Aerospace front/strange rear drag brakes. My usual CE rear shocks, Strange SA fronts, BMR extreme rear sway bar.

Going to use a D1SC with a SDCE 8 rib and one of EPP's FMIC intercooler kits.

Engine will be a good old 9.5:1 347 with good rods/pistons, car has a TR blower cam (224/227 114 LSA) that I will use. Not sure on headers, car has FLP headers on it I may try to use. Probably go with some Patriot or something similar low dollar heads or even is the stock 317 heads that are on it. My old car ran low 10s/high 9s with stock 98 heads and GM composite gaskets so I think I will be OK there.

Going to keep the stock PCM, use a dual walbro in-tank setup.

My old TH400 and ATI MRT converter will be used, tires will be 11.5x28 Hoosier DOT QTPs (I have ran 9.20s on them and they require very little hammer work) on billet specialty wheels. Rear will be narrowed 3" so it should like pretty cool with those wheels with a 4.5" backspace.

We'll see how much I stick to the plan, I should have it done around March. Its will pretty much be a copy of my old TA where it was at a few years ago, just a fun low 10 second/high 10 second car that requires zero maintenance at the track.

Few pics of the progress so far, mostly taking things off

KP I have a set of DynaTech 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped heads sitting in the shop I am never gonna use. Maybe a step up from the FLP's I dunno. You are more than welcome to them if you want to give them a shot.

Glad to see that this car is going to go together rather quickly. I can't wait to see how it does. Who's building the engine?

I may take you up on those, I think they would work for what I'm doing, the FLPs are a great street header but not really 9 second stuff, even though I did run 10.30 with them on a nitrous car years ago.. I'll let you know.

I'll do the engine myself, just going to do some decent rods and pistons. I ran 9.70s with a similar setup with a 98 engine with stock connecting rods, forged pistons, 98 heads with stock valves and a 01 Z06 cam a few years ago and it held up pretty good.

I think you should start a pole on what the car will run in the 1/4 with a list of the parts you are going to be using. The "KP factor" would have to be figured in by anyone trying to figure out what it will run. Bob

I just installed the TRZ rear sway bar setup, pretty sweet piece, you should try it. Its very light, unlike the Spohn/BMR setup.

Your car will be an almost identical build to mine (mechanically). Hopefully mine can run as well as yours will next year!

I want to upgrade to the M9 setup sometime too, looks really nice.

No nitrous D1SC, timeslips here, videos I had up are not working anymore on streetfire. And I drove the car all over the place like that so I guess it was a street car. With a nicer 347 and an F1A it ran 8.90s.

What kind of boost are you looking at, and what weight for the car?
