I completely understand WHY you did it. I just am not impressed with fast LSx, that's all.

But, hell. If you want a lot of power, this is definitely the way to go.

x2.

I agree with your decision totally, it's just not impressive seeing an LSx car running 10's. It's almost as though they are expected to when you see one with slicks and skinnies. To see an N/A LT1 car running 10's, that draws some attention.

I'm not taking shots here either, just busting your ***** a little. I'm sure in the long run it will be cheaper and run the numbers, I just wish you'd have kept going with the LT1 build.

the 5.3 is a ls1 just a smaller bore, but same stroke. Bore a 5.3 a little over and youll have a "ls1" with a iron block. And price, a complete 5.3 can be had all day long for $500 with low miles. A low mile ls1 is still $1500+

Heres a car im really following...

Low 10s should be pretty simple also. My car weighs 3660 w/ me in it and runs 10.30s. With thrown together parts. 5.3L GT45 turbo and a 224/224 .580 112 cam, 4000 stall. Its also blowing through the converter pretty bad, 131mph on a 29.5 tire 3.50 gears and 7500rpms through the traps. You should run mid 9s with ease being that light. I wouldnt have wasted all the money on studs and valvetrane. Mines going on 3 years of beating with bone stock everything except the cam and patriot gold springs.

Why are there LSX haters on LS1tech?
I had the same argument a few weeks back with someone. You think back in 1960s there was a group of people thinking the same thing?....They all ran flat heads and were mad at the SBC and it was an easy way to go fast? Its called envy.

Looking good! Can't blame you for going 5.3, I would if my brother didn't have the LSx catagory covered!

its not so much wasted money.. its a must to run new springs retainers etc, and must run new pushrods, so whats left? Rockers and lifters. Lifters i got new and cheap from a member on here and rockers i got super dirt cheap cause its a real good friend of mine. So with tta being said i got a complete valvetrain for next to nothing. As for the head studs, i didnt really want to pull the heads off but the motor has a ton of carbon build up so im sure its not the freshest motor in the bundle. So to play it safe im pulling the heads off to get them cleaned up some and then check everything to make sure its all good. So why spend the money on new head bolts when next winter im pulling them back off... so if i buy the head studs now i wont need them later. Kinda a "need them sooner or later, why not now" type of scenario im in.
