IMO 6-8 psi would be max with a good tune if you want to see it live for awhile

I had a d1sc on a stock 93 lt1 and was running 8 psi, made 450 rwhp. Ran good for 2 thousand miles, then performance started to suffer. Did a leak down test and 2 cyclinders showed lowered compression (cant remember how much PSI showed in those cylinders)
Pulled the engine and the ring lands looked ok, but was getting blow by. Had a pretty rich tuned on the safe side, but I would say the majority of boosted stock bottom end lt1s out there end up rebuilding at some point.

I put 45,000 miles on my 96 Impala with 10 psi Vortech kit on. I never did blow the motor. I pulled it, too make it faster. The LT1 cast piston is the problem. Its only a matter of time before you break the ring lands. I think I got very lucky.

Hey Mike... Just realized who posted that!

BTW the stock engine had about 60,000 when I put the blower on. The ring lands never broke, the rings couldnt keep up with the cylinder pressures.

theres a car i think im going to get, its a 97 z and has a twin cooled pro charger. the car has 56k on it and its only had the pro charger for about 4k miles. said with 5psi it mad 467 rwhp , has cam and heads have been worked, headers, x pipe. so i could probably bump it up to 8psi and be good for a while.

At 4 psi, it will live forever with a conservative tune. Anything above that and the pistons just won't take it for any extended period of time. Though, a while back some guy claimed he was running 12 psi on the stock bottom-end and it lived for a while. However, his dyno and track times were also very fishy too, so I wouldn't count on yours doing that too.

It took awhile to get her down there. There are quite a few guys running high tens in that range though. A good track and alot of messing with the chassis.
