Thrust bearing worn? what causes it.
I had an issue with my car, the motor developed a knock after its last pass. took it out and the trust bearing was gone. the crank was pushed forward and the crank lobe was starting to rub the main cap. it showed no signs of detonation on the pistons, and the heads had not pushed any water.
the motor is a 6.0 iron block, weisco 8.1:1 pistons, 6.0 heads. i have an 88mm turbo, i did not have a two step when i broke it. trans is a T400, rear is a moser 9". it was running around 11psi of boost. i ran the car about 10 times without an issue on the old 10 bolt.
i installed the 9" and went to the track use the T-brake. i spooled it at 50% throttle to about 1-2psi and launched. the car pulled great.
next pass i stood on the t-brake longer and had it floored for about 7-10 second, the boost shot to 10psi and i launched, the car instantly smoked the tires and then developed a knock after driving to the pits.
Anyone know if it was my fault or what caused this. the machinist said he thinks i ballooned the converter. the converter is a pro edge and andre is going to freshen it up. Since i have purchases a two step to help the launch.
thank you in advance
Chris

7-10 seconds is a lifetime on the t brake, you should be able to come up on boost in a second or 2 at the most on the brake.there are several things you can do to make it spool faster.
But that def killed your converter and it then killed you thrust. Some converter brands are worse than others when it come to beating out the thrust.ATI has one of the best when it come to thrust issues on a turbo car.

I may have posted this in a different post of yours but here it is again...
Foe every SECOND you are on the trans brake, you add 30-50* of heat to the fluid. So average trans operating temp is 125*-200*, add another 90-250*!!!!
That trans needs to be checked too. Converter might need more then just a freshening, like the front pump cover and housing might be toast. I would definitely go over it with a fine tooth comb.

Probably ballooned the converter. This is one of the reasons why pro racers have spent a lot of time figuring out how to bring up the rpms in a max effort turbo car without burning up transmissions and converters.

Converter charge..
Here's but 1 thread about this problem. Several of the tranny builders have thier own methods.. This is the 1 I use, from Don ****.

In simple terms, you put your trans cooler in a box and run ice water around it. Most do it with air to water systems, but you can do it with air to air. Cheap insurance. YOu never know when someone is going to try and burn you down on the line.

once again, alot of its in the converter design,i know the way the stator is made has alot to do with it.One other thing is how much pressure the trans is pushing into the converter.
