Default Who runs stock radiator?

I have been looking at standing up the radiator...and it seems like almost everyone gets a Griffin. Is there no good way to stand up the stocker and have clearance for a single T70 front mount? Who here has reused the stock radiator in the set-ups?

So even when the lower mount is re fabricated it wont work? I know for a fact they can be made to fit under the hood...I was more worried about the width and depth with fans...

You can fit the stock radiator in with puller fans. You have to drop it down about 1.50-2.00 inches and move it foward, the further the better. You will have to cut out the sides of the radiator support and replate them when you get clearence for the radiator.Do a 1or1.5 inch tube across the top and make a plate bolted to that to hold the top of the radiator where you want it.Cut the bottom radiator support out and move it down and you can even use the factory radiator supports. It will take a little looking to find the right fans for your setup, but use the biggest ones you can fit.

I will be running the stock replacement SLP with 3 cores. Stood up, moved up and dropped. You can see it from post #51 on in my build thread.

i tried all 4 option.,

stock radiator and stock fans. = perfect ran a 190*
griffin 15x27 stood up w 16inch spal ran- 250*
griffin 19x27 stood up w 16inch spal and 14inch pusher- 200*-210*

griffin 19X27 with stock fans= 160*(icey cold)

my conclusion is you need the air flow most importantly. if you have 400 bucks to spend lets say, 300 for fan and 100 for a radiator with be better than a 300 buck radiator and 100 fan. trust me i know from experience,

Thanks for the input cjg454ss... Do you have any pics of the stock rad and fans set-up? Anything in particular I need to watch out for? I assume you tucked it all the way up and modded the lower mount to drop it as well? I would really like to use my stock set-up just for reliable cooling of the stock fans etc.

i had to ditch mine. i later ditched my wipers and will be ditching my wiper motor for some weight saving. you probably could save the wiper tank but really you could just get a smaller one and mount it anywhere,

Any major clearance issue with running the stock rad tilted and brought forward? I cant imagine the rad will sit any lower than the IC pipes etc...

I have read that it is possible, and I planned to do that, but today I just couldn't see how to fit it - it is about 5mm wider than would fit between metal supports going up from the rails... Can someone explain that? I think these "towers" hold also headlights, and I do not want to cut them
Maybe someone has good pics?

The stock radiator will not fit moved forward without widening the opening in the core support. You cut the sides of the core support out to where you need them and then build new side plates out of sheet metal and weld them in.You have to drop the radiator down about 1.50 inch. You can do this without affecting your headlights. You can leave part or all the top of the core support but it gives you more room to cut it out and replace it with a piece of square tube moved to the front of the opening, like in cjg454ss's pictures.
