I would only trust name brand gates in my car. Turbosmart and Tial are both top quality. Just make sure you buy genuine not knock offs! If the gate don't work right engine damage is very likely. Is that worth cheaping out?

I have a Turbosmart Pro gate works great. It's no super loud like other WG when it opens but it still sounds good.

I've got the turbosmart 38mm ultra gate. I've heard nothing but good things about turbosmart.

ive used more than my far share of Tials. never had a problem with them. they were pretty much the standard when i got into the turbo game years ago.
turbosmart makes a quality product as well but i dont have as much experience with them as Tial. same deal with JGS.
now OBX, or any CHINAGATE, why do you want to risk boost creep or worse? the couple hundred saved probably wont cover a new motor after the gate doesnt open and you have 30+lbs hitting the motor. can happen to all of them but i think your chances are higher with a knock-off. good luck

I wound up getting a 50mm WG, made by innovative turbo. Nice wastegate. Company was a local buisness around here for a while, i think they are closed now. Basically is a turbonetics unit with a different looking cap, from what I can see.

Turbosmart WG here and it's definitely a nice piece. I would stick with Turbosmart , TiAL, or JGS they all make pretty good stuff.

a bigger gate isn't needed for more boost. quite the opposite, a bigger gate is needed for lower boost levels since you need to bypass more exhaust around the turbine and slow the compressor down to make less boost.

true .. but once you start running extremely large turbos and small gates .. it doesnt regulate boost as effectively because there's a lot less backpressure.

Its probably a street car that obviously needs to control boost. if its a full drag car, you could effectively apply this theory because they run ***** to the wall as much boost as the turbo can give.
