Could my cam Really be Hurting me?
Its a f-11 , Futral motorsports, 228/230 576/595 112+4
I know its not ideal but could i really be losing alot of power from it?
Update, same setup but now its a 6.0, same problem
TTI .70 a/r on the compressor side with a 70mm inlet.
.96 0n the exaust. 3 inch down pipe to 4 inch over axle through straight through 4 inch magnaflows. ported (cleaned up) 317's patriot gold's (new) hardend pushrods stock rockers , Lq4 shortblock (iron 6.0) stock ls1 intake front mount intercooler, 3inc in and out, 90 degree IAT temps.
2 bar SD tune openloop. hptuners perfect afr, 12 degrees total at wot.
ALL this and 13 psi.............................. so far 460 ish rwhp.

thats what i was thinking.
I had just compared my setup to my friends and they our almost identical motor wise except cam. hes running a stock zo6 cam and his car makes way more power and has alot broader and smoother powerband on less boost. And i tuned both cars on a dynojet and this is my second short block with identical dyno results.
Seems on semi stock , boosted ls1s, smaller cams with less of a split and more Lobe sep. work better.
MY POINT: i was just comparing my cam specs to other "good" turbo cars , and my cam seems way out to left field.

Cam isn't hurting you, I bet your turbo is though. What A/R you running and is it tang or on center? What turbine wheel is in it?
Read the cam thread I started, had some good clues in it. Several fast guys are running 15-20 degrees of overlap at .050 lift.
BTW, tuning a turbo car on a non load cell dynojet is a great way to blow up your car when you take it on the street.

its the TTI kit so it sits off the front off the left turbo log style header and has a cross over from the right manifold under the oil pan, that feeds to the back of the left header.
And ya we use the dyno strictly for the measurement of part interchange. i prefer street and track tuning.
thanks for the tip on the thread, ill look it up right now

Zombie is Right on with this one. Lsa and over lap is not the end all. On a 364 ci i did 700RWHP with a 113 lsa cam at 10 psi with maybe 11 degrees of overlap. Could i have made more power with a different cam maybe. But i was happy with the amount of money i put out at the time.

ok ...........theres hundereds of guys out ther making WAY more power, not a little , im talking hundreds of more horse power and torque then me with smaller turbos and smaller cams , and less boost with a4s. so if my camshaft isnt the limiting factor in my cars lack of power what other issues could be?
tuned by 2 other WELL known tuners and this techinacly is the 3rd short block(all 3 were stock) ya ya i know. so i know its not the tune.
4 inch exhaust.
ls1 intake (not the best but definatly not hurting)
"cleaned Up" ported 317s.
stock rockers, hardened pushrods , stock lifters , blue stripe 918s.
so is there anything else that im missing that could factor into why my car just doesnt like to make power under boost?
im about to change the cam so we ll have some for sure facts, not just opinions. i have had my car on the same dyno for countless hours. and im one of those "this works and this is why,,,and this doesnt work and this is why" kinda person. Much like you zombie

Its tough to say with out seeing a dyno plot but Id bet you one of two things going on. 1st possibility is that you are very close to the surge of that turbo and the small amount over lap is pushing you over the surge limit. #2 The red flag I saw in post #11 is 918 springs. its likely you just have a valve float issue. under no boost they might work fine but at 15lbs I don't think they will get the job done. I would run doubles.

!!!! How could i miss the springs! i BET that could be a definately good place to start looking.. the car peaks hp at 5500.
FWIW the converter is a 3600 vig single disk lockup.
im going to try to post a dyno sheet in a bit.
