Default What intake is everyone running with big boost?

How many guys here are still running a factory style intake? and how many are running a cast intake? what are the pros/cons of either?

I think it depends on what your goals are. Most guys that are either running Stock intakes or running something line the Vic JR. Unless it is a high $ setup then they might be running something bigger. But Hell Fireball is running an as cast Super vic with his car and is going low 8s right now.

PS I am still running my stock LS6 intake and the car just went 10.6@133mph in the heat over the weekend.

I think I'm the only person to have blown up an LS6 manifold under boost. I was only running 16ish psi, so I very seriously doubt that the manifold blew up due only to the boost since so many others have ran so much more than me thru factory composite manifolds...

I used the vic jr. to pick up room in the front and back of the engine. also heard enough about the #7 going lean.

Peaks at 6300 shifts at 6500, the Vic Jr didn't add and power but it carries it quite a bit longer now.

does the vic junior actually help with the #7 cylinder going lean ? i thought it was all about the block. i believe the ls1 did not have a coolant passage on the back of the block beside the #7 cylinder. and the ls6 block does.

The factory manifold has nothing to do with the lean #7 issue. I forgot who, but someone turned the manifold around completely facing backwards, and the rear cylinders were still leaner. Do a search in here if you wanna find out who..

I remember that thread, very informative. Still wondering if the LS6 coolant bypass mod contributed?

But I ran 13-15 psi w/D1 on a FAST 78, popped the burst panel once when the coils were backwards & it backfired, but other than that had no issues up to 6500.

I'm now running a Vic Jr with an elbows.com elbow (for the increased flow) at 14-16 psi on the F1 up to 7k.
