4L80E all day. I just installed one in a 408 nitrous car we did and it feels so good. Perfect for cruising around too.

I have a t-76/ ls1 in a 92 mustang coupe and trying to decide on a transmission. I have a 2000 computer out an SS with a six speed. Can I use a 4l80e with a manual valve body with a 6-speed harness and computer or am limited to a turbo 400. sorry to hijack. thanks

Man Tiago, so many ways to go about it... I know its already been said, but what about a T6060? From what I remember from the limited research Ive done on them, they have a way stronger basis to build off of.

Also, I know this is going to sound just absolutely retarded and kind of ridiculous- ESPECIALLY in this FI section, but why not just turn down the boost so you get into a more manageable power and torque level. I can't imagine 950rwhp feeling too awfully slow. And hell, if you can make everything dead reliable at 950, why bother with all the other headaches? Just a thought man. Flame suit on!

some comparison with onfire

4095#
3.08 gear
4l80e
25.5" tire

60mph =1800
70mph =2100
80mph =2400

drop that another 150 rpms with a 2" bigger tire

Is your friends car a track only car or street/strip? I feel bad for him. That can't have been cheap!

Ummmm you do know that a a 4L80E and a Th400 share 85% of their parts... (except the OD Drum of course).

He sent it back to builder several time and just gave up on it and got a t400

I also has a PG in my car and now its a stick again....with 1100rwhp and the stick works fine...but if I were to go auto again it will be a Pg...

Which is the same thing as a 4L80 without OD.

If you ask me, I would have been using a PG at your level a long time ago. With the proper converter and a trans brake you will kill the Supra's before their race even starts. If you want more top end, gear for it... You make enough power for it not to matter anymore. Especially if you turn the wick up to 1300. Just my .02

Hell I love my 80. I almost used a 400, but I really wanted OD for cruising. I'm glad I did now. If you want to drive it on the street and be happy with it, get the 80.
