I have hunted and hunted but have yet to find someone that put a manual valve body in one of those things and made it work correctly. Maybe Rossler has a good MVB that works without issues. If so, I would love to see some testimonials. The good news for you is that the 99+ PCM can be made to control the 4L80E.Bad news for me is that I have a 98 PCM and it can't be made to work with it which would mean that I would have to drop an extra $600 for a standalone controller.

That's wierd about the guy having blown 2 trannys. Sounds like he might be doing something wrong. Maybe he is running the MVB.

I had the manual kit in mine at first. It was ok for driving but I had the same problems as everyone else, slow 2-3 shift. I have the PCS controller now. Hell, you can launch the space shuttle with that thing. Its all good now.

I've heard of people having problems getting it to go into some gears or having to come to a complete stop in order to get back into 1st. Weird **** in general specially since I dont know a damn thing about how they work inside.

Im buying a tranny next week and still undecided. I have a six-speed transmission computer and harness and dont want to run a controller. So has anyone had any luck with the 4l80e with the manual valve body. and is the revers manual valve body and trans brake even available yet.

call my guy (jerry's guy) before you make any bad (non 4l80) decisions and find out what they really cost when you dont have to pay for the big name brand at the top of the reciept.

he has full auto control no mvb, and I just found about two other C6s making 1k rw that have blown their 4L80s as well.. not giving me much confidence, but not much info on fbodies...

Just do a turbo 400. You won't miss the overdrive. I don't and I will cruise it at 4000rpm going 85 with my 3.46 gears and 26" tires. F*ck gas mileage.

Tiago didnt you swap the 3.42 gears to 3.08?? I think with 3.08 and TH400 27'tires will make a great setup for those Supras

Or T6060.

I pumped a bunch of money in my T-56 and ripped all the teeth off the 3rd gear cluster. I said "f*ck it" and bought a T6060 and diff out of a wrecked 08Z06 and put it behind my Tex triple. The gears are 15% wider, no sliders, bigger bearings and shafts and made out of better metal. I put it in bone stock as the only thing a shop offered to do to it is not strength related, which is bronze fork pads. I guess you could cryo the entire thing, but in stock form, it's holding up to my abuse so far. I pray it doesn't let go, but know it is always possible. The new Camaros, Vipers, GT500's and a few others are using the new T6060.
I know I would get much better track times with the auto, but it's not all about track times for me. I get more pleasure out of rowing gears and auto's have their fair share of issues. If I did change, it would be to a 80e.

yea 3.08 rear now, not going to change it again. The TH400 would still be a little high in RPMs at 80 mph, so the GVO is still in my mind.

bring it back to me and buy a standard TIAL Gate, I can have it working in 1 day

thats good to hear on the T6060, but Im not going to gamble with it right now, I will put hte auto in the TA.

I am also building a 09 Z06 with the 6060, with a build similar to the TA, so I will see how the 6060 handles that

It works better when you drop weight AND up the power.

Yes but if you have on tap more power than you can possibly use again the extra weight becomes pretty much a non issue. Course if car is pure track car then might as well get it as light as possible. I do have track talon that have stripped down a lot.
For car that is more street than strip then like to have my creature comforts, like to have strong parts but still have things like overdrive ,tunes..air conditioning ..etc.And you can have that with FI. Car can be very streetable even tame off boost/spray and a real tiger on boost or spray.

But yeah just messing around. Lighter is good, more power is good. Big hooters are good..All good!

and you break more ****, being heavy + power = alot more wear and tear on everything...as Tiago has found out.

good luck I'd go 4L80E for sure for street driving.
