yeah...had an issue on the first run. fixed it (I think) and went to make a 2nd pass. there was an oil down and a wreck while waiting, so I just backed out of the lanes and packed up for the night

Low RPM needs to be within a couple hundred RPM of the top RPM for consistency. Depends on really how fast your combination comes up. A 427 with twin 70-76s can roll in and lite the top bulb without doing anything while a 427 with twin 88s needs to roll in on the 2 step low.

so my currently 8 second car that I'd like to get into the 7s needs better than stock brakes !? lol Who knew brakes could make you faster, wish I left the brake switch provisions in my car so I could use it as one of my 3 step activations .. have to fab something up I guess...

I was gonna do the same thing and add a another 2 step, but my T brake allows me to stage with the top bulb lit in 3rd gear while the gear selector is in 2nd. With my gear selector in 2nd, trans brake button pressed it will shift into 3rd and let me build as much boost as I need then when I light the 2nd yellow I down shift from 2nd to 1st and I am on the transbrake in 1st gear. Let off the foot brake floor it and hang on!
Not all transbrakes work like this I know, it's just a really easy way I can do it on mine. I'd still like to put a limiter on my footbrake to bring it up faster. The way it is now, I can build 5-7#'s on the footbrake in 3rd. Then when I go to first and let off the footbrake it's at 10#'s. It took about 20 passes to get my r/t's down from the 2 second rage(building boost on the line) to .50's where I am now. I know a .50 will lose a heads up race 90% of the time, but it's a lot better than 2 seconds.
With a turbo you will have to experiment a lot with getting the staging right to allow you to leave consistently, but who am I telling this too, Brian already knows this stuff Just thought I'd help the guy who asked fireball about his staging techniques.

converter might be hurt...everything seemed looser (stalled higher, flashed higher on shift, etc), so I dropped the trans pan and found some fine metal dust. Pulled the trans Friday and dropped the converter and trans off for a checkup/rebuild yesterday. Hope to be up and running again soon.
May have figured out a way to get boost in faster too after doing some AMS1000 testing last night
On a side note...I had to return the tig welder I've been borrowing so I bought a new Diversion 165...its a pretty nice TIG machine for what it cost
