Are there any supports to keep the trans cooler from vibrating and breaking off the fittings?

no...the cooler has endtanks on it (fittings welded to those). SHould be pretty secure.

what is your technique for boosting in pre stage and rolling into stage? are you low rpm two step and foot braking to the stage or trans brake pulsing via a controller?

I've noticed the guys that are always dead nuts consistent use both.

I have a technique that works well, but it will only work with a certain t brake manufacturer for my tranny.

I have a 3-step...build boost on footbrake (dual calipers) on low rpm limiter, bump into stage and transbrake to go to 2nd (higher) limiter.

Low RPM needs to be within a couple hundred RPM of the top RPM for consistency. Depends on really how fast your combination comes up. A 427 with twin 70-76s can roll in and lite the top bulb without doing anything while a 427 with twin 88s needs to roll in on the 2 step low.

so my currently 8 second car that I'd like to get into the 7s needs better than stock brakes !? lol Who knew brakes could make you faster, wish I left the brake switch provisions in my car so I could use it as one of my 3 step activations .. have to fab something up I guess...

You can use a 1/8" NPT pressure switch, they are cheap and can get them from most auto parts stores.

I was gonna do the same thing and add a another 2 step, but my T brake allows me to stage with the top bulb lit in 3rd gear while the gear selector is in 2nd. With my gear selector in 2nd, trans brake button pressed it will shift into 3rd and let me build as much boost as I need then when I light the 2nd yellow I down shift from 2nd to 1st and I am on the transbrake in 1st gear. Let off the foot brake floor it and hang on!

Not all transbrakes work like this I know, it's just a really easy way I can do it on mine. I'd still like to put a limiter on my footbrake to bring it up faster. The way it is now, I can build 5-7#'s on the footbrake in 3rd. Then when I go to first and let off the footbrake it's at 10#'s. It took about 20 passes to get my r/t's down from the 2 second rage(building boost on the line) to .50's where I am now. I know a .50 will lose a heads up race 90% of the time, but it's a lot better than 2 seconds.

With a turbo you will have to experiment a lot with getting the staging right to allow you to leave consistently, but who am I telling this too, Brian already knows this stuff Just thought I'd help the guy who asked fireball about his staging techniques.

converter might be hurt...everything seemed looser (stalled higher, flashed higher on shift, etc), so I dropped the trans pan and found some fine metal dust. Pulled the trans Friday and dropped the converter and trans off for a checkup/rebuild yesterday. Hope to be up and running again soon.

May have figured out a way to get boost in faster too after doing some AMS1000 testing last night

On a side note...I had to return the tig welder I've been borrowing so I bought a new Diversion 165...its a pretty nice TIG machine for what it cost

Good luck. Hell, with some of the issues you have been hitting, top fuel racing might a bit cheaper, haha. Hope the tranny comes out well.

Factory case glide?

Hope you can get it back to the track. I have been watching this build and am curious to see what it will do when you put the coals to it!

How much was it? I really need to purchase a tig, but they're so expensive and I want a decent quality machine that won't crap out on me all the time.

I very highly doubt he would have a factory case in that car.

Billet front pump destroyed. took out the band as well. Trans guy said only the converter could've caused that and the converter supposedly didn't have anything "major" wrong with it
