Brian, I'd have that other block repaired, and throw it in an engine bag when it's done and stick it in the corner. Just for the sake of doing so.......

That's a spare part, that if it's repairable and will be a solid piece, would be worth having.

I'm not fixing it to just store it...too much to invest at this point...I'll just hold on to it in its current state and fix if necessary later.

Yes they have more duration on the intake side than the exhaust side.

Nice to know, seems some people think reverse splits are old school tech and not the way to go. Kurt Urban and Kenny Duttweiler commeneted on this in one of the new carcraft turbo cam articles http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...ide/index.html

I realize this is a pretty generic article and obviously they wont give away their secrets.

Just depends on what your goals are for the combo. The camshaft has to work with the converter and rear gear factoring the weight. It all has to work together as a package, some guys like to spin a small block to 8500-9000, some guys like to keep them under 7500. 500rpm difference out the back door may not sound like alot but it is. Its easier on the valvetrain, crank, piston rods everything... We run a blown alcohol big block converter that is very tight which yeilds mininal loss out the back door in RPM.

there were a couple things in the story that weren't 100% accurate. I am trying to get those changed.
