Is that a common problem that your having for the high hp applications? I don't remember reading/seeing anything like that on phils setup.

phil is dry sump...its basically a built in scavenge system...my issue is due to a low mount turbo

What about restricting the flow of oil a pinch? I know I've seen that done in the past.

That explains that. Do you have a scavenging pump or do rely on gravity?

I have a scavenge pump, but I mounted too high...even though it can draw up, it reduces the flow...I lowered it so its lower than the turbo now.

Dropping it in at our local ODR race today...

I was looking at that last night wondering if it could have been too high. Good luck today. I will post my videos from last night tomorrow. I left my Camera in my GF's car last night

I was going to say 135 in the 1/8th sounds like 165 + in the 1/4, which is absolutely ******* badass for 15lbs. It's going to fly, happy to see you back up and running so quickly!

Too many ft. of head on the pump, makes sense. So a resevoir tank does the trick, nice.

Does having a dry sump fix this problem completely or lower the chances of it happening?

For some reason I was comparing your times to phil's mph in the 1/8. Hopefully you can get up there too!

Let the turbo drain to a small tank (like a overflow bottle with a breather) Then have your scavenge pump suck oil from there. You will not have any more problems with oil backing up into the drain line.

thats what I want to do, but it would hang so low I'm afraid. it still did it yesterday, though it took longer and not as severe. so it was an incremental improvement. I think I'm going to try a turbowerx exa pump vs the mocal. it has 50-100% more flow. the mocal is listed as 1-2 gal/min and the exa as 3 gal/min.

And the beauty of the EXA is that it can pull up hill just hard, IIRC. For some reason i thought you had a Turbowerx.

awesome, glad to see some numbers finally coming out of this setup. All the work is finally paying off, now you just have to dial her in.
Did you fix the oil issue then or is it just band-aided right now? Turbowerx sounds like best solution...have you thought about going to dry sump at all or do you see it unnecessary at this point?

id like to go dry sump, but space is currently at a premium, therefore fitting the pump and tank might be a challange

Yes, I think this is the one to get. You can even run it dry and it won't hurt it.

Going over the data shows soo much was left on the table but they were solid shakedown hits. On his 141mph pass the boost was a solid 2 seconds late from where it will be once the combo is squared away. Cant wait for videos.

Once the training wheels come off his combo will come around insanely quick. We have all the data and know where it needs to be. He only has roughly 1/2 the total boost in already.
