What intake are you running?
#41
Why would an intake with runners all different shapes and lengths, have beter distribution than one with equal length and shape runners, feeding off a common plenum ?
I think its safe to say GM put a lot more development into the LSx plastic intakes than any carb intake.

Any info would be greatly appreciated as I am ready to buy a new intake and I want to get the right one.
Right now it's between the victor jr. and the Pro Flow.......

If it was me, I'd be buying the Pro Flo...and I will as soon as I can afford to !!!
The carb intakes just lack volume. Im stuck with my carb intake for now though.
And why on earth is there an advert on this page for an "Enema kit" lol ?

I'm running an ls-6. Did 475rwhp and 495rwtq. Never felt nothing like this before (had NOS, didn't pull like it does with this turbo though). Looking to do a dual fuel pump and a boost controller in the upcoming 4 to 5 months. Going to run 12 lbs of boost (looking for around 600 to 620 rwhp and torque).

Back from the dead!!!
One thing that the LS6 has going for it is that it came on the LS1 engines for a few years so people just didn't change it. If they had the regular LS1 intake and had a choice of buying the LS6 from someone or a Vic Jr with an elbow I bet the numbers would be alot different. With Vic in the front. I know that plenty of people still buy the LS6 when giving the choice but still gonna be Vic out front. Not that anyone ever seems to be able to come up with hard evidence that any of them are worth more of a **** then the others when it comes to air flow and starvation, but at least it looks alot cooler. By far. Talking light years. ******* ponderous

Guys, there are lots of ways to skin the cat. At the end of the day, the combo has to work. Just because it's FI doesn't mean that they all peak the same and have the same power band. The LS6 is going to fall off or level out around 6200. The Fast around 6500, and the single planes will pull just above 7K. Sheetmetal intakes can be designed to pull to 8K+. None of them are magic though and as such the lower peaking intakes will also be more responsive and the the higher peaking intakes will be less responsive.
In the interest of full disclosure, MightyMouse's LS6 is modified to accept a 90mm TB IIRC. Not sure if Mike Brown's was similarly modified. There is a vendor that does it or used to do it but I can't remember who it is right now. It isn't cheap though.

I ended going with the Pro-Flo and it seems to work really well. One thig that I am very pleased with is the fact that I didn't seem to lose any bottom end power. Since my truck is a daily driver that was kind of important to me ............

i do know the runners on ls6 and fast are designed to evenly distribute air. I had heard this on a thread when the upgraded ls6s just showed up. Not only did they make the tb bigger on them they also modified the intake runners to adjust. I have heard the fast dont hold up well to boost. I will be running a fast 92 since it is coming with a setup im getting off a car originally built by g-force. the car was totaled so setup being sold to me. It had a d1sc with the fast 92 and made between 700 and 750 rwhp through a auto and 12bolt. Not sure how much boost or much about the motor.

There is one issue with the ProFlo that I forgot to mention but it's easy to remedy. Apparently a couple of the injector bungs are close to the location where the fuel rails bolt up and interfere with the fat injectors. My understanding is that clearance can be made as there is plenty of material there. If you are going to run a seimens/motron (60-80#) type injector, no action is required.
