Overkill=no, Unnecessary=yes With FI you want to get rid of exhaust gases without building backpressure. I doubt you'd see much hp difference 1.75" to 2" given your specs.

right know the car put down 730rwhp on epp mustang dyno with 1 3/4 headers.they could only take it to 5900rpm due to it running out of fuel, now the car has a full fuel system alkycontrol meth kit,and just trying to find the right headers before I take it back.

1 7/8 Will show a minor gain but overall it will run alot harder due to less back pressure. I say ur doing good with the 1 3/4, But frost I think on this board runs 1 7/8 and is around 800+

I say go for it...I have ARH 2" headers on my car..402, around 10:1 compression, 18.5psi, TH400 + 9" = 812rwhp on a Mustang dyno

Ran 17/8 on the 408 and made all I wanted lol! And now I am running 2" Kooks on the 346 with the F1R. Is is needed no. Does it make a difference you have to be the judge. If you are buying headers anyway. Well I probably would buy the 2" as it won't hurt you.
