I'm not trying to break the record... just get my car to be NASTY from 60-130... My races usually start at a 45-50 roll and stop when one person get's stretched

I guess after losing that many transmissions you have to finally give in. I don't blame you at all. The RPMs with 3.08s shouldn't be that bad. What tires are you driving on?

at the strip about 800rwhp and on the street its all about tracktion. If it doesnt track then it doesnt matter.

I have seen this a few times on the other 1k rwhp tans that I have done. What happens is all the fluid goes to the tail shaft or the rear of the trans and leave the input shaft dry. The lack of atf make the counter gear and input gear REALLY HOT and will shear teeth. What we have done is put a pump that feads atf to the adaptor plate so they always have fluid.

Im not sold on that because I have torn up some T56s in the fisrt 1/4 mile of their lives... thats not enough time/wear/heat to destroy it IMO.

Rossler's and Circle D converter. Might need an adjustment... haven't fully tested it out yet.

Haighter- can you post up some pics of this lubrication mod?

I've heard of this on the endurance racing Dodge Vipers to make the T56 live.

I'm putting a built T56 (Viper OPS) into a 6.0 LS forged motor with GT88 turbo shooting for 1000rwhp. I hope that the low weight helps with lack of parts breakage. Goal is 3,000lbs with driver. Mazda FD RX-7 chassis

Tiago- Did you have a Viper OPS? That carnage looks nasty inside.

Bump to the top..... I've reached 1,000 posts

I'm positive Tiago had a faceplated t56. He posted a video of his car on the dyno and you could hear it

here it is: http://www.force-fed-fabrications.co...umpgasdyno.wmv

if you mean outputshaft, yes I have one. The weight will help it live for sure. The oil pump may aid as well, but Im not sold on it being the end all be all.

Im willing to bet money that the trans doesn't last very long. He probably has 2-3 trans with him any given race weekend to swap through

I know Tiago doesn't necessary agree with me but since I have been spraying the head gear/counter shaft gear I have had no problems with 1-4 gears. Here is my post on the lubrication mod I did. I am running a syncronized G-force T56. I did break the head set gear before putting the pump on and since the pump I have had no problems with 1-4 gears. I know over 20K miles with the pump with no problems. Last winter I took the tranny apart just to inspect it and the head set and counter shaft gear still look brand new. Lack on lubrication on those gears when applying lots of power is killer on them.

I'll deffinately be running a setup like yours if I ever go back to a T56 for any reason... Im not convinced its the total fix but it can't hurt!

Tiago do you have a dyno comparison with the trans. swap? I'm curious to see the difference. What size stall?

At 809 rwhp in this GTO with a six speed, we snapped the pinion gear off the nine inch at this years LSX Shootout on it's first launch.

We got it back together and broke the output shaft in the transmission. Rodney at RPM Transmissions replaced the 27 spline shaft with a 32 spline shaft. How long it will last is anyone's guess at this horsepower level. Bob
WOW, this makes me nervous as I'm about to swap over to a fab'd M9 with aluminum everything....

ugh i can't win.

I haven't got on the dyno yet. I have little seat time on it still. It is a 3600 stall nominally.

I run a 26" tire and 3.46's with a TH400/4200 stall. I'm looking forward to going to 3.08's. My rpm at 75mph is rediculous.
