Default SD tune help. Car will not start.

Mods if you feel this doesn't belong here put it in the Tuning section. I figured I would get a better response asking in here first.

Ok I am switching over to a speed density tune because I built a forged bottom end and plan on turning up the boost

So I bought the 2 credits and applied them to my car and hit the "2 Bar MAP - Speed Density" in the OS options.

When I did this it took my two VE tables (this is a 2000 corvette) and put one primary VE table in it's place. It also set the whole table value @ 152 and gave me up to 210 kPa.

I copied my old VE table up to 105 kPa so I could atleast fire the car up. Here's the problem. The car will crank and sputter but will not start. If I put the old 1 Bar tune in the car will fire right up and idle.

Also when I have the 2 Bar SD tune in I am getting a ton of codes. Most have nothing to do w/ the motor, but I am getting:
P0103
P1514

As soon as I stop cranking w/ the SD tune, I get "Reduced Engine Power" and "Service Traction System" on the DIC.

I am at a loss here. I do not have the MAF in the car at all, I bought a 2 Bar MAP sensor (this is a 05 Cobalt SS Baro sensor I am using).

Attached is the tune I am trying to start the car w/. This was the tune that worked in the car before, but now it's only converted to the 2 bar. Also attached is a list of the codes I am getting.

Even doing a re-write takes longer than before. A normal re-write would take 20-30sec. Now it is taking 3-4 mins w/ the SD tune.

Did you do a simple write config, or a write entire after you applied the 2-bar SD?

I just did a turboed 6.0 sandrail. I used a 2000 vette pcm. I also tried to use the cobalt ss map sensor. It did not work. It appeared to be reading backwards. But since I have several turbo cars around I grabbed the turbo buick map sensor from a twin turbo c5. It uses the old style map with an adapter pigtail. It fired right up with it.

I tried the cobaltss map again....and all it would do is fire up and die. Die no matter what instantly.

I gave the cobalt sensor to a guy to return and try another, but for now the old style map is still on the rail.

Log the map......my cobalt map was going the wrong direction....

Why is your boost pe set to 14.7 across the table..would reset that to 11.5 or even bit richer..under boost is when you want it to be like 11.5 off boost like 12.8.
Also see you are running open loop full time? long terms off.. personal choice I guess.

I think it is likely your map from what you said also although I run a 3 bar with gm map sensor.

^^^^^ Yea I had it set in open loop just to get teh car fired up and running. I have an LC1 and will be tuning that stuff back in.

I didn't even mess w/ the boost PE because of just starting the car. I wanted to get heat into the motor & make sure it didn't have any mechanical problems first.

I had a similar problem. I loaded the 2 bar tune up but didn't have the 2 bar map in and the same thing happened. But as soon as I put the 2 bar map in, it fired right up. I'd try another map sensor if I were in your situation.

I found a post that I believe is goin to fix my problem.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/pcm-diagn...0kpa-idle.html

The key things from teh post are:

''the 12580698 is NOT an BW EC1636 even though they look the same, EC1636 is in fact a one bar'

I bought a BW EC1636 from AutoZone. This is probally why the stock MAP and the BW read exactlly the same w/ the MAF tune, and why it won't run at all w/ the SD tune.

Zturd has the GM 12580698 for me and I will be trying it out tonight & let you know how it works out.

Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions.

Did you rescale the MAP in the tune?

I am using HPTuners, so when you convert it from 1bar to 2bar it automaticlly re-scales the MAP table up to 210kPa

See I told you to check the Map readings and that it should not run with the old MAF tune and the 2 bar map

Yeah, with HPTuners. Maybe it's only on the 98's but under engine diag>airflow you should have map sensor linear and offset values. They need to be 207.66 and 9.00 respectively.

Ok guys here is why I freaked out alittle. There is no way of telling the difference between the BW EC1613 & the GM 12580698

The left is the GM, middle is BW, right is stocker

I slapped the GM one in & BAMMM!!! she fired right up. Now I can start dialin' everything in.
