Default anyone runnin 10.50 or faster with a M6?

10.50 is my goal with my 408, 76mm front mount, and a M6. How much is a tranny build to hold 800rwhp? What kinda gears? Thanks in advance.

First time out with the retune I ran a 10.50 (on my 3rd pass of the night). My car put down 754rwhp with the D1SC. Im hoping to hit 9's with my 6 speed this year.

1st of all 76mm is small for 408ci!!!

I don't stock M6 Tranny will hold hard launches at the track maybe a couple of runs....
Gears maybe 3.42 with 27tall tires...

Good luck..

A t6 76 will be fine and make the power he is wanting. I would go alittle larger myself to leave some breathing room.

I went 10.80's with in a full weight 98 firebird, m6, 76mm turbo, stock motor/valvesprings only, making 580 rwhp. There is no reason your car wouldn't have the potential

I ran a m6, with mcleod twin disc clutch. Cam only ls1 with non modified 6.0 truck heads. With 67mm turbo. I went 10.44 at 132.5 mph. So many ten seconds passes, just 3 times to the track.

Your talking a 408 with a 76mm, looking for 10.50s? That's over kill to me, I'd expect 9s with that set up. Maybe mid 9s being idea?

I went 10.33 @ 136mph with my D1 and M6. Trans was stock up until I went 10.40 then I broke the 3/4 shift keys. All I did to mine was basicly Tick's Stage 2 kit. Although I got the parts from a different vendor for less money.

The trouble was spending big money on a clutch to hold the power. You are gonna need a twin disc.

A stock tranny will hold up to that power but eventually wear or break stamped keys and plastic fork pads. At 800 rwhp if you cant get it to go mid 10's you need an auto anyways

i guess i don't know what i am getting myself into with that kinda power. It is mainly going to be a street car but i want it to be capable to *** kick at the track if need be.

I ran quite a few low 10's with a 10.04 at 149 on a totally stock T56. Very strong gearboxes.
MT 255/50x16 radials and 3.55 rear, circa 3500lbs raceweight.

I did eventually upgrade the box, mostly as I was paranoid that something might break. I keep the old as a spare now.

Im certainly not aggressive with it though

so what did you do to your trans now? so you broke your billet keys? what gear ratio 3.73's?

to the op, i think you will be fine. your taller gears will be a lot less harsher on the car and trans plus the power deliver is more progressive. like mentioned before, the only thing you really got to worry about mostly is the clutch.

No I broke the stock keys and then installed billet keys. also I running a 3.70 Gear ratio with a 28" tall tire.

But I am making the switch to a TH400 with a Trans Brake since My Tex clutch lasted 8k miles and I was faced with buying a $1500 clutch and a $330 Master cylinder. And I came across a Complete TH400 swap for $2000. And that is everything from Shifter to Drive Shaft to Trans Blanket

i know im a nitrous guy but i went 9.86, 9.91, and 9.96 on 3 of my first 4 passes ever. the 4th would have been better but it got loose at 1000' and i had to drive the **** out of it to keep it off the wall and ran 10.04. mph was between 140-142 each pass. my t56 is 90% as gm installed it. i did change all the small parts like the pads etc. but still stock gears and mainshaft etc. i run a dana 60 w 4.10 gears and a 28x10 et drag. at that mph im going thru at 7k rpm. so your goals are easily attainable. heck i went 10.78@128 on the motor in 90* weather.
