Default Pick out my S/C cam for me! (LT1)

Hey guys-

I just bought an F1A procharger kit with FMIC from a guy on this forum. He sold it for a turbo kit...ended up buying the whole car. Long story short, I'm buying the fresh forged 383 (~2000 miles) that came out of that turbo car...but with no cam (was turbo specific).

I need some specs on a good cam for this setup. I'll probably start with 8psi (4.5 pulley) and go up from there. Here's the specs on the motor:

383 shortblock -------
splayed 4-bolt caps
ARP main studs
Eagle forged crank
Eagle forged H-beam rods (6.0")
JE/SRP -31cc forged pistons
AFR 210 heads w/competition porting
Edelbrock LT4 "air gap" intake manifold
LS7 lifters
Harlan Sharp 1.6 roller rockers
ARP headbolts
chromoly pushrods
Milodon oil pan
60# injectors
58mm throttle body
stock clearanced valvecovers
Meziere HD EWP, 160 degree Hypertech stat

Suggestions? I'll be shipping the cam to him, he's going to install it for me so I receive a ready-to-rock motor!

i can say this, i have a maxxed out d1sc on a 355 lt1, and i had a custom blower cam made, 236/246 .624/.630 114. i kinda think i would like it better if my engine was a 383.

$330? Is that what cams are going for these days? Maybe I'll call up AI or LE and see what they've got on tap for F/I cams.

Chad from Golen Engines Speced my new Solid Roller for my new build. Have had several engines from him and they all ripped.

I had good luck with a 224/236 @ .050 on a 114 with high .500's on the lift. This gave me 700 RWHP on a 383 with 17 lbs of boost and stock ported LT1 heads & intake.

heres the worst part, i called ai first to get a custom blower cam, he told me something in the range of 236/246 .6xx etc etc for everything i told him over the phone, price, 400 ******* dollars.

i called bullet who actually MAKES THE physical camshaft you get from ai and le and asked him the same thing, they gave me what i currently have the 236/246 .6xx 114
