Default Can you use a larger comp housing and comp wheel on a PT88?

I currently have your standard off the shelf PT88 and it needs to be rebuilt. (how i bought it) Can you buy a larger compressor housing and wheel? per say convert it to a 91.5mm? Goal is to make 1200 whp with a 408 and since i have to rebuild this one, i was seeing if they're are any options i can take while im at it. Aside from rebuilding it and selling it for a GT47-88

Give Jose at Forcedinductions a call. He can rebuild it, and has an upgraded wheel, and housing for the PT88. I think it's 91mm. Also he has Garrett GT91 mm units that will share your same PT88 EXH housing.

Back from the dead, but its my thread and its legal for me to do so, haha.

What kinda power capabilities could my pt88 make with the 91.5mm comp wheel and housing net me? maybe 200hp over the rated 1250hp for the off the shelf pt88?

Also, does anyone know how much larger the 91.5 compressor housing is over the PT88 housing? I know i have room for it, but was just curious if anyone knew.

thanks

Mightymouse is running the upgraded 88 on his car. He is the only one I know of. I was going to stay with my PT88 but decided to go to a GT4788 instead.

Yeah thats kinda where im at right now, sell the 88mm and get a GT4788, but i might not have the room i think i do for one. Plus i am on stock cubes right now and its gonna be a while till i build a 408. Soo a GT47 would be overkill for a while untill i finally build a block. Whereas a hybrid 88/91.5 might just be

if you were wanting to do a 408 i think it would be to your advantage to switch over to a t6 exhaust, regardless.

that turbo is not going to make it to 1200whp even with a 91.5 in it. i ran a pt88 up around 25psi and it did not like the back pressure on my old 365cu.

Yeah, im at the point in my build where it can go either way. I build my cross overs, DP, IC piping, ETC for the 88mm, or i repair it and sell it, and go with the GT4788 pending i have the room. I would rather have the setup suited for my ultimate goal, rather than have to redo it all over again in the future.

Beware of a GT4788 measurements thread shortly...

Is this a street or race car? I made 733whp so far(tires wouldnt stop spinning) on my PT88 350z and the car on anything over 10psi(even at 10) is too violent for street tires.

There's no need to make a thread. If you talk to the guys at forced inductions they can give you the measurements of anything you need. They can probably build you something that'll fit your specific setup better than an off the shelf 4788.

I will street drive it, but it will be mostly cruising it around for the hell of it pointing and laughing at anyone driving exotics. I didnt hook up in 1st-3rd NA and that was with 315 BFG drag radials out back. It weighed 2315lbs NA with full exhaust and heavy 3 piece wheels, haha. Its basically a barely street legal race car. No heater core, painless chassis wiring, kirkey seat, its a shopping cart with an engine. My widebody rear will allow for a 28x12.5-17 drag radial, which will help a little bit for street use.

fwiw if you go with a 4788, get the precision variant. The billet wheel will spool faster( its about $600 more and an option for this ) and is said to be worth about 100 extra hp. It's up to you, but this unit is proven. I hope to make about 1300hp when all is said and done. Like when my bank account is empty! If your goals arent as high the standard GT4788 will be just fine and much better than a PT88.

Kinda changed my goals a little bit. Im gonna get my 88 upgraded to a 91.5 and use a simple forged 370 for the engine.

This thread has all the info pertaining to a t4 91.5mm turbo
https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...ick-treat.html

In the thread someone mentioned the hybrid T4/91.5 flowing a touch more than 130lbs/min. Which will be fine with me, could possibly make 1100whp on a medium frame turbo.
