Default stock motor and turbo?

Im working on a ls rx7 conversion. I want to use a turbo due to my past with turbos and EMS. IM thinking 4.8,5.3, or maybe ls1 depends on the buget. IM looking for about 600hp and Im thinking of useing hptuners and a ls6cam other than that I need some info or a good place to go get it? ANy info on the tranny would be great also?

Thnaks

ditch the 4.8 idea...now the 5.3s with 6.0 heads seems to do that job often here...

yeah there have been many factory bottom end 5.3's with stock 317's pushed past 650whp. dont keep it there and youll get long life with em lol, but ive been researching this and have seen several keep low boost for DD and run north of 700hp for single runs with meth. not too shabby for a $400 junkyard shortblock lol
