twin turbo 416 CI LS2
At work we are building a TT 416 CI LS2. This motor is going in a FFR GTM supercar. The turbos seem a little on the small side to me, but they were recommended from several suppliers. I guess we will see how they run, should have instant boost which will be a blast on the street and road course. This is my first turbo build, so im a rookie to this stuff. I believe the turbo is a T3/T4 hybrid. I think the compressor is a .60 A/R.
Anyways, on to my question. We are looking into boost controllers for this setup, and don't really know what is best. We are looking for something that could have maybe 2 or 3 different boost settings for different drivers or valet purposes. The gates have a 5.8 lb spring in them now, does that limit us to 11.6lbs of boost? I thought I read somewhere that you are limited to twice the psi of the wastegate spring.

Twin 5.8 lb springs will make around 5 lbs, depending on where you reference it and such. A manual controller will make twice the spring, electronic controllers have options for more then that. Sound like an Eboost 2 would work well.
How are you getting a 416, has the block been sleeved?

I would have to look at the build sheet to see exactly what all is in there. The motor was built for us with a full billet bottom end, diamond forged pistons, etc....
There are two t3/t4 turbos on there, the company that supplied them said their test car made 915hp on a 402 CI motor in a vette. I don't know how true that is, but that is the information we were given.
We have been looking at the E-boost 2, and our dyno tuner has experience with this boost controller. Will the E-boost 2 give us the option to increase the boost over 2x the spring?

yeah, thats probably going to be the one we go with, just wondering if anyone had any other good ideas on what we should use.
Im a little concerned with the turbo size, but like I said before, this is my first turbo build. Ill get a few pictures up when I can. I have most of the piping and such finished, just need to snap some pictures.

T3 hot side is not necessarily to small. Depends how much power you want to make with the car. With the weight of the GTM you don't need too much to get it moving.
For boost control, spend the money and put an AMS1000 on it. You won't regret it.

I think that AMS 1000 was also mentioned by our tuner, so we will take a look at it also. I guess we will just have to make a decision between those two since those are the ones people on here recommend as well as our tuner.

yeah the 1000 looks like a little more than we need. We wont need a launch feature or any of that. This car wont really be drag raced. We also dont want something that is too complex to setup if the final purchaser wants to change or upgrade things.
Just for some background info. We have finished two of these cars the first with a cammed LS7 and the second with a bone stock LS2 crate engine. The first car we built did pretty well against the Gumpert Apollo in a test they did for Speedvision. We weren't there for the test, but it beat the gumpert in top speed and 0-100-0. It lost the road course and 60-130 test. I do know that it had a traction issue in the 60-130 test.
This car will also have racelogic ( I think thats the name) traction control which should help slow speed acceleration. The traction control system they make is pretty sweet if you havn't seen it before. You can actually tune in the amount of slip you want. There are infinate settings between 0-100% slip.

I have eboost2 on my car. It works very well, is easy to use, and easy to adjust on the fly. I currently have 6 settings ranging from base boost (7psi) to 24.5psi. All you have to do is press the arrow up to change your setting. You can also progam boost by gear and other options if you really get into it.

Isn't the APS twin turbo kits for the C6 Z06 based on the the garrett GT3582s? I thought those were T3s and they seem to have some good results. (Jim from Speed Inc) It may not be the optimal setup but seems pretty good.
