Default LQ-4 Motor Limitations

What's the most horsepower that an LQ-4 motor hold? I'm about to have my car (which has this motor) brought from 5 lbs of boost to 12 lbs of boost. Curious to see how far we can go with it. Thanks for your input.

Is it stock pistons? If so would stay at 5 to 7 , possibly 10 with lower compression heads. Past that crapshoot on what the rings can take assuming the 6.0 stock pistons are same hypercrap that ls1 pistons are made of? I went straight to forged parts in my 6.0 so didn't have to worry as much. After forging the answer to how much power is lots.

Well to help you out a little, We are running a 00 model 6.0, t88 gt-45 turbo, in a 89 fox body, The engine is stock other than mls painted head gaskets, head studs. We are running 10#s mostly, But when running the car hard we go to 13#s with a 75 shot to get the car out the hole. But it quits spraying once you shift to second gear. No problems an engine has been going great for over 4 years now.

So the stock 6.0 pistons are not hypercrap like the ls1s? Or hypereutetic or whatever...
4 years is obviously a long time. I have seen the ls1 and lt1 stock pistons go bye bye in minutes and not even at high boost levels and on supposedly good tunes. Was even keeping a few as souvenirs although they weren't from my car.I went straight to forged after seeing those stock destroyed ones. Ringlands went bye bye.

Ive been around 800 rwhp in my fox body wiht a stock bottom end 6.0 , 148 mph in the 1/4 @3250lbs 14 psi pump gas and twin t70 turbos.

I have also been as high as 18.5 psi on my old stock bottom 5.3 with a single t76 and it made around 600 rwhp.

Its all in the tune up!

The only thing i have in the motor, well on it, was ARP head bolts. Everything else is stock, iron block. Motor came out of a 2500 Chevy p/u truck, with 1800 miles on it. So far, its great. Like i said, we'll be going for 12 lbs of boost. Sounds like we'll have no problems. Let u know what happens after.
