Where is your peak torque right now? What rpm does full spool up happen for you? Daily driven or weekend warrior? Are you ok with drag radials full time on the street?

Have yet to dyno, still building. I'm using T'netics TC66 with a .58 exhaust AR, a 4.8 with an RPM balanced stock crank, ARP Hardware and stock everything else with 317 heads. Should I wait for the dyno data?

Yes, I'll be using 315/45-17 MT ET Streets with my ZR1s, might move to a set of Bogart D10's and a 27'' tire

I forgot to ask what RPM you plan on spinning it to. Are those a T4 .58AR? I'm going to say 3500-4000 and then also say call FTI and Circle D and see what they say. I would think those small housings are going to spool fast and fall off fast as well. I'm no expert though and I would recommend you talk to Jose at Forced Inductions about the AR choice you made. Seems to small to me. But depending on your max rpm, maybe they aren't.

6.5kRMP<, yes T4, there were spec'd by FI for a 5.3/T56 app, but a 4.8 fell into my lap, and great TH400 cost about as much as a decent clutch these day.
Thanks for the response

Just an FYI, but a RMVB TH400 has to be driven a certain way or you will screw it up. Start a burnout in 2nd and then shift to 3rd. Leave it in 3rd after the traps and don't downshift to 1st unless you are stopped. You can downshift to second as long as you are giving it gas when you do. Never go to neutral after a pass or it might explode.

been there figured it out. peak torque is 6500 rpms so a 4500-5k stall would work well. Gearing id run a 430-456 gear with a 28" tire

your cam is similar to what i used. i peaked torque at 6500 at 4k i was only 225ftlb peaked power at 7500

The stall doesn't have as much to do with driveability as people think. If you rode in my car (FTI 4500 stall) you would never know from light to light. That gear on the other hand is a bit much. I would start with a 3.73ish or 3.55ish gearing. Specially if you are running a 26" tire. Turbo's like load.

Even a 3.27 or 3.08 would work well with the right combo. What intake and heads are you running?

Depending on how much freeway driving you do would be the deciding factor with what rearend gears. When I'm doing 80mph with 26" rear tires and 3.46 gears I'm over 4000rpm if I remember correct. I haven't driven my car in a year, so I'm foggy on the exact numbers.

you are correct to a point however with a 4.8 big cam large turbos you need gearing. you treat it like a centri blower, i ran 488s with my old setup then i swapped to 410s and lost 5 mph in the 1/8. yes loaded it better but ran shittier. Id rather cross finish line faster then load the turbo. a 4.8 with a cam of that size will pull 7500 all day long. a 410 gear and 30" tire i was stuck using 3rd gear instead of 4th. the 488s put me in a happier rpm thru traps in 4th.

a 26" tire with that setup id run 390s-410s. you could easilly pull a 4.8 with good cam close to 8k. if i was able to do it then others can do as well. the 4.8 setup hes planning on wont have the ***** to move itself off the line without gearing and big converter. my old setup peaked torque at 6500, thats higher then ppl peak HP

you treat a big cam, big turbo setup 4.8 like a 4 banger, treat it any other way and it wont perform like needed
