when you use nitrous with FI, the power increase is more exponential as you add more boost/nitrous, not so much 2 or 3 times the original shot.

I ran a 50 shot on my 5.3 w/ boost, it spooled a little slow with out... w/o ran 10.55 @ 128, with the 50 shot ran 10.31 @ 131 I had a really shitty converter also... but it worked ok never had any problems.

I would run Meth before I sprayed N2O on my FI motor

I'm going to use nitrous to spool a big turbo in a rearmount configuration. They make controllers that will ramp the nitrous off as the boost comes up.

well its a different set up completely but i run a "75" shot on my neon and it made over 90 horse power to the wheels, so i would say there is a bit of truth making more horse power then advertised

but why dont they provide the same effect some what.just want to make sure when pushing the car hard in hot weather that it's stay very cool the meth works but only when for intake not the intercooler!

if i'm not mistaken, No2 acts as an oxidizer and meth act as a coolant/fuel.

Correct. You need to add fuel to nitrous for the power increase. Meth is it's own fuel.

Yes you are correct to a degree. with N2O you are basically adding addtional oxygen to the intake charge. with added fuel you will make more power. However with a FI setup the N2O helps cool the intake as well. this is where you see the added power come from. So if you are spraying a 50shot and making an additional 90bph then you would be getting about 40bhp just from cooling of the intake air!!!.........

Meht is just another fuel. as you are adding it mailes away form the intake it has loads of time to evaporate and thus helps cool the intake. this is why carb guys often dont bother with intakercoolers. thye are using fuel to help cool the intake charge. Alky also adds a little octane to the mixture, never a bad thing!

Speaking of octane, what very cheap, readily avalaible, perfectly safe liquid has over 10,000,000,000,000 octane?

Chris.

Nitrous will increase cylinder pressure thereby causing you to have to reduce timing or risk detonation. The additional power is mostly due to the additional cylinder pressure already present from FI and the cooling effect it has on that charge.

Meth is a fuel and has higher octane than pump gas. So it cools the charge AND raises the octane which allows for MORE timing. Some people run straight meth and others mix it with water which further ups the octane but reduces the cooling effect slightly. I'm not a big fan of spraying water into my motor though.

Im pretty sure you've got that backwards. The methanol is what adds the octane. They say water helps cool the charge better, and the methanol is simply a fuel which has a cooling affect as well.

I was under the impression that the methanol had better cooling properties because of how quickly it evaporates compared to water. If this is the case, then the only reason to not use straight water is because the meth lets you stretch your fuel system out a bit. I'm going to have to look into this a little further.

Huh? How does the meth water mix reduce cooling the intake charge? It was my understanding the water will help pull the heat out the intake aswell as the meth, And those of whom run straight meth need the octaine. Im not being a dick, but is my understanding wrong or off?

I sprayed a 50/ 50 mix on my car during hiway runs and never seen iat past 80*.
