Need 800rwhp recipe for 05 GTO
I do some hot rod work out of my garage and have a customer that wants 800rwhp.
The APS looks nice but 9k.
I was thinking selling the stock LS2 shortblock and buying a forged shortblock from a vendor.
Who makes a single kit for the GTO?
Is the rear strong enough?
Is the 4L80 an easy swap?
Thanks

you gotta pay to play but KYTP makes some good kits IDK if he makes them for a GTO but you can ask him

better safe than sorry and selling a good motor for $$ vs. blowing the motor and having to pay straight out doesn't hurt plust you can use it as a core for a block built by ERL
Who makes a single kit for the GTO?
I am not sure for GTO's but I am sure some of the vendors listed to the right do them
Is the rear strong enough?
why take a chance just go ahead and beef it up so the car is only down once
Is the 4L80 an easy swap?
yes it's very simple now with all the people doing it and others finding less expensive ways to do it. The harness is around $250 and now they figured out a way to do it without it and it being controlled the same as the 4L60E. Are you going to build the tranny or get one from a vendor? FLT makes some great ones and work with you on cores, shipping and what not.
Thanks

- APS quit making / selling the GTO kits a while back.
- Definitely go with a forged short block and decent heads.
- STS makes a kit but it's not what you need to make 800 to the wheels http://www.ststurbo.com/pontiac_gto_5_7l
- An 8.8 swap seems to be the bulletproof rear for our cars but I'm running a TruTrac in the stock housing(we'll see how long that lasts).
- 4l80 swap - It bolts in with minor frame rail notching to fit the harness plug however the '05/'06 TCM's won't control the 4l80 unless there has been a new breakthrough I'm unaware of? So you'll need a 1k + Trans controller or use the Rossler Transmission Black Box to make it a full manual valve body.
So either a custom single or a ProCharger will get you there pretty easily. Good luck and keep us posted.

-What size single? Will a TC78 make it there?
-Any stock manifolds fit flipped on these?
-It already has a STS on it now but it is choking and running out of power around 550.

if you already have a STS on there just improve upon that get a PT88/93 I think there are a few people on here running that or bigger/other units and making power. btw is the STS kit on there a single or twin? Getting a bigger turbo with a different a/r would help on it choking at 550hp. For turbo questions ForcedInductions.com can easily answer what you want to know

No one really makes a nice single kit for our cars. It would have to be custom fabbed. If you don't want to do it yourself I would look into a Procharger or TVS blower instead.
A TC78 will most likely not be enough for 800rwhp. The turbine is too small. You'd have to step it up.
You can make more power on a modified STS setup. You'd need larger pipes though.
I tried flipping manifolds to do my setup. I didn't like how it laid out. I ended up making my own tubular manifold. People have used flipped truck manifolds though.
Hendrix makes the 8.8 swap parts.
4L80e swap isn't too bad. I believe I was the first to swap to it from a 6 speed. It will require an aftermarket computer to run it though, which gets expensive. I built the trans myself and it still cost me about $4k.

+1 for a custom setup... I have custom dp's, custom manifolds, forged bottom end, FMIC, tial wg's and bov's, bap+ 255walbro, 72lbers, and twin 3076's .... This is my recipe and im already at 729whp @ only 71% dc and 18*. I'm going to a colder plug and then ill be cranking the boost a bit. 800whp easily achieved through, STOCK heads, STOCK cam, STOCK intake manifold, STOCK fuel rails, hi-flo cats, and spinteck mufflers.

I will post up some pics for the OP for my custom rear mount turbo setup. tons better then the sts.

Will my s475 with 1.10 t6 with meth, 18psi, afr heads on 370 hit 800? I had the tc78 that I just replaced. If worst comes to worst I can spray on top!
