355 with Vortech YSi...need cam help
Well, a couple months ago I bought a 1987 Iroc. It currently has a 305ci TPI motor/ysi combo making 664 on 16psi. We will be upping that to over 20 and looking for near 800hp once we fix a couple blown head gaskets...
The point of this post is the 355 that we built for my other car(that is now sold) and when the 305 goes we will be upping the cubes(hopefull in at least a year so I can get some fun out of the car now )...
Combo:
355
splayed 4 bolt
Carrillo 6"rods
CP pistons
ported AFR 195cc heads
8.5/1 compression ratio
induction: ported plenum, 1/2 siamesed SLP runners, ported Edelbrock base and 58mm TB
exhaust: Hooker LT's and true duals/dumps
I had a cam picked out and we installed...
http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...?csid=304&sb=2
Anyone running this type of cam and getting good results with a supercharger this big? it would of worked good with my T6 flanged S400, but not so sure of the big SC with the 110 lobe separation...
BTW Vortech was NO help at all
If you have any questions just ask!

230/236//110 solid roller or hydraulic.
You can pulley your YSi to make 850rwhp, and that cam might work, I'm thinking you'd need to be around 21-24 psi to get there.
To put things in perspective, I went 9.40@143mph with 18 psi @ 680rwhp at 3500 raceweight. I made 754 with 21.5 psi but I had chronic belt slippage issues.

It's a solid roller. I don't mind selling it, buying another, install, etc but I found a few people saying that LSA in that range is actually OK with superchargers. Overlap isn't too crazy at 51 either.
The car has a few things holding it back and I know I'm crazy, BUT I want to keep the TPI setup in the car for that shock factor(along with a 305 right now)
We have a 24 lb setup already that the previous owner installed and both headgaskets are now blown(probably because it was lean. He put E85 in there and not tuned above 3k or so for it). I got it, drained the E85, put in 110, pullied it back down to 18ish and drove it. Pulls good, but blowing white out of the passenger side... For now going to pull heads, install Cometic gaskets(maybe throw on my AFR's), and get it tuned(a JOB within itself using stock 87 ECM, FMU, and 2 extra injecters for fuel enrichment under boost)...
It is already cogged as well, so belt slippage should not be an issue.
Here is a few pictures and small video from the day I got it...
Since then I have removed EVERY sticker from the car at this time...

I had a build 355 lt1 in my 94 TA, with a ysi. It had a similar cam to what you listed, almost identical actually. using a 1.6 rocker would get your lift up to .600" lift which would be good. Mine was 232/236 but advertised duration was 272/278 if i recall, and was on a 111 LSA with a 108 intake centerline. This is all from memory, so im not positive but it is what i remember.
Sounded insane, idled well, and pulled clean up to 6800. Also i made 660whp at 13psi with unported completely stock LT1 heads. I had it pullied for 62000rpm at 7k, but had a very restrictive inlet and it would only make 12-13psi. I ran it open with a screen one day and had 18psi at 5500, and by the way it pulled i would venture to guess it was mid 700s whp.
So, I say run it, using E85 you will need to get a FAST or megasquirt (works awesome in the 799 ecm with stock wiring) and I reccomend a set of injector dynamics 1200s. 160lb injectors arent very good in my opinion and having just installed some ID 1200s for a turbo E85 lsx car i am more than impressed with them.
Beautiful car hope things go well, everyone hates the TPI but it makes for one rediculous street car

My favorite body style! Very awesome build on that car! Grandpa has a mint 84Z28 but has been converted to a convertible top by a company in Florida. If it wasnt so flimsy and a hard top I would ditch my TA in a second for his 84Z.
