you are an auto....go bigger on the hotside if you can, especially if you are going up in cubes later

spool is instant

i am looking for a 1.52 housing to try now

The thing that I hate is these new housings are like $250 bucks. You could always sell your turbo, add in that extra $250, and get something that would make more power. Just a thought. Depends on your goals/room.

I might be going to something bigger in the spring. You can only help the 68 wheel with a bigger housing so much...

very good points... and my thinking aswell

that is why i need to see the price first..... because if it is up in the $300 range it would be better to just sell mine and move to something like the GTS 76

Exactly. I'm eyeing a 78GTS, an S475 or a PT88.

The main problem with the other turbo's is that the TC76-78 is by far the smallest physical sized unit. If you don't have much room it's hard to beat the TC units. The borg units are huge and weigh more than twice the amount. I thought there was a 1.32 divided a/r housing for the TC units?

Yep the TC units are definitely the smallest, but I think if I were to do it all over again I'd find the extra 1" or so for a Precision 76/78...

The Borg Sxxx are indeed WAY larger. It would take some work getting it to fit. But it's been done. And they can make stupid power for <$600. I've honestly debated buying one just to see what I could throw it on haha.

Don't get me wrong, I love the way my TC unit works on my car. I'm just trying give some more insight since I've been down this road already.

you guys all make very good points, and yes, the TC unit cannot be beat for its size. THats why i had to go with it, and also why i didnt go with the TC76,

my original plan was a for a s475, but after digging into this, i dont have the capabilities to make it fit, nor the patience, lol. im already hating life trying to make this work. i shouldve went with the log style and crossover around the rear like hydro, and perdieu did.

but what we will see what happens, im already questioning what im going to do about an air filter, if im going to be able to run one or not. may have to do a screen of some kind.

no progress today, it was football day, lol.

ive spoke to john about this housing, seems that they used to make one, yes. but when he got his, he was told that they still had them, when infact they didnt, so they honored there promise and made one for him. but they do not make them anymore.

My friends 04 GTO with a 6 speed ran 10.7 @ 560 rwhp at our crappy 3000+ DA. The car is full weight, not even a set of skinnies. I doubt it would take 750 rwhp to run 9's in a GTO, probably around 600.

Default Post #2 updated with new pics

and also, perdieu is about the only GTO i can think of with under 700whp, and he has alot of time testing and tuning with the Gforce Rear Coilover setup.

Th400 trans, and one hell of tune.

anyways, pics in post 2, made alot more progress tonight, turbo is sitting in the car without outside support, i will unfortunatley need to get a new radiator. no big deal, if you look at the cardboard box with black duct tape on it, that was a mock up size radiator that i made months ago in preperation for this build.

just thought id be able to get away with the stocker. but not how we have it in there now.

UPDATE!

Jason came over tonight and got down right busy, lol. immediately didnt waste anytime at all. Made some serious progress tonight, we ran out of real wire, and had to tack things up with the flux core, BLAH! ohwell, ill re-tack with new wire this week and finish weld everything, i may send it off to be tigged :-pimp: but everything will be wrapped to **** and coated anywayz, so no one will ever see it. lol

and on with the pics, :turbonaug sorry, my camera was not steady tonight!

jay wasnt to keen on my original pie cut bend, so he he made a more smooth transition.

and the money shot for jay

more progress to come, yes, i will have to get a different radiator, i have been looking for one for a long time that will fit under the core support, i would love that.

more to come later, busy guy ya know, lol

Well i decided to tackle my down pipe tonight, and was quite surprised with what i was able to do this time around, seems like after my attempts before then jay really helping me out the other day, i was able to get something else accomplished, im quite happy with it, turns out any kind of extended welding is not easy with a hood that doesnt dim the arc for ****!

jay you were def right about my hood, it sucks, i had it on max darkness, which is 13 i believe and it was hurting my eyes, so i decided to only tack stuff together until it gets finish welded.

heres some pics, im going to be installing an electric cut out on the downpipe so that i can meet the rules for having mufflers and still be able to run wide open for mega fun

more to come as things progress

well, i pulled the cover off tonight, figured out where to put the oil return, hopefully be dropping it off to andy soon. gotta go pick up another fitting. 1/2" NPT x -10 90* elbow so that we can cut it down weld it on there.

radiator brackets are removed, and ready to be re welded where they will be. Once i get the turbo kit finish welded, ill mount the radiator and then start plumbing the IC again. ARG! i only hope the piping i have will be enough. lol

ohwell, story of my life if its not. no big deal though. 8)

i have a goal of being running by end of january and ready to get on a dyno and start tuning a little bit. I have a local dyno two blocks away that is a loaded dyno. 8)

more to come, its slow, mainly becuase of me. not a big deal, not in a hurry this time. taking my time and doing it right.

rich is hooking me up with a halman manual boost controller! thanks man!

gotta order the flanges for the precision 46mm wastegate, then i will be done with piping aside from mounting the cut out and hooking up to the spintechs.
