Default Restrictive exhaust on APS TT car

How restrictive do you guys think my exhaust system is and how much power do you think Im leaving on the table by having my Borla Stinger exhaust.

For those that do not know, from the turbos to the catback, its 3", then it funnels down into a 2.5" catback. For discussion sake, its a forged 347 with 317 heads, meth, and 18-20 psi on high boost.

I am seriously considering a set of low profile cutouts to gain a little extra power. Thoughts???

Yes.

i have the same question. I was planning on taking my cat back off and running 3 in out the back. Anyone tried it with out muflers? How loud will it be? I have a LS3 with the APS TT setup also.

I've been wondering the same thing for my setup. Im thinking of duals off the TT 3" all the way to the back to a 3 1/2" muffler on each side. Should be plenty quiet and flow real good.

How quiet is your current setup?

I've got a friend with the aps tt kit and he has a pair or the low profile DMH cutouts on the y pipe and it worked out nice.

My current setup is fairly quiet, but still has a nice rumble to it. While I'm sure it would free up some flow, I still dont think a 3" catback will flow near as good as cutouts

Any results for comparison?

The car had stock exhaust for the catback so the car wouldnt even pull through the afr's were so rich closed. Open the car made 640 rwhp on like 13 psi. I was just pointing out the low profile cutouts fit and worked well.

The further back that you choke it down the better. As the exhaust cools, it takes up less volume. We just ran LS2Formula's car at the track with dual 3"s into a single 4" @ 28 psi and ran a 8.05 @ 176 with a soft 1.31 60' foot and close to 3500#. It's a 422 w/ twin TC78s. Just beware detonation. Might not tolerate as much timing as it would with open 3's.

I have corsa catback on mine and have cutout for it just single to put in intermediate pipe under the back seat. Should be more than fine.Obviously twins before ypipe could work good too was just worried about ground clearance but they have those oval ones out now.I have had fair share of different electric cutouts in past and some leak at idle and rattle that drives me nuts.
No way you would be able to drive an aps car on open pipes it would be stupid loud. Mabye not quite as loud as normal NA car with open pipes. Just try open cutout and you can see how loud it gets. Cutouts also are great as you can open them just a bit or as much as you want.Cutouts rule!

Makes sense. Yes, the tune would definitely be monitored with them open to make sure it doesn't go lean.

Ill probably get a couple DHM low-profile ones. The customer service I've read from them is outstanding.

ALSO, I got an answer for the power gain. I was told I'm probably looking at 35-50 rwhp and that was coming from someone who has done his fair share of APS cars. That amount of HP (potentially) is definitely worth the $400 it cost for them. The downside is, Ill be at about the max that the stock APS turbos can support. Upgrades in the future after some personal things that are higher on the priority list

For ease of fitment and the quality I bought this which I hope will flow enough with my setup and it should give me plenty of room out back for the watts link on my rear end. It is a dual 3in y-pipe into a 4in which will neck back down to a 3in just before it goes over the axel and splits into two 2.5 inch pipes. I might see if a 4in pipe will clear over the axle and then split it into dual 3in for the tail pipes but I will have to wait and see when I get that far. Believe it or not this is made by Kooks and lines up to fit their regular headers which a lot of guys I have read have used the standard Kooks 3in y-pipe on the APS kit. I am also thinking about adding v-band claps where this will join to the downpipes and maybe elsewhere as well just so it will be easy to get my t56 in and out when it goes and pukes it guts over the road or dyno. LOL
