Default Big KB Blowers

Has anyone done a build with the big blowers from kenne bell? Specifically the 3.6LC or 4.0LC? Tossing around the idea of using one...

corvetteforum would probably be a better site to check than here since probably 90% of the community here are fbody guys..

I think they got one for the new Camaro. But as for the fbodies I believe its no bueno. I believe the biggest for the vette guys is the 2.8l. I could be wrong its been a minute since I checked out their site. The 3.6l's and the 4's are for the new camaros.

So, is there any reason the big new ones wouldnt work on a truck with rect port heads? Aside from belt alignment and all that...

I am not sure what your engine bays look like in the trucks but I'm sure if theres room it could fit. Probably would have to have custom stuff done since there are some differences between the two vehicles. They either made a kit or someone fabbed something up for the 2000's gm trucks. But that was awhile back and most likely no bigger than the 2.8l. Those new ones are some huge blowers.

There is a ton more room in the truck bays than any of the cars. I am looking to push 15-20 pounds to a 410" engine. I know the tvs2300 might could get me there, but these huge KB blowers just seem like a cooler project. Seeing you have a KB, what do you think of it and KB in general?

the thing you have working for you is the camaro has the same offset as the truck pullies so a camaro kit will be pretty easy to make work on a ls3 headed truck.

btw please do this man , if i were doing a blower it would be one of those . the one thing i would look into though is a bad *** crank with adding all that load from a big blower like that . they are very hard on them and your going to need one hell of a belt drive . like this

Hey Chase, glad you joined in. I was actually going to ask you if you did anything to your tcase to beef it up since you stuck with awd?

What blower is that pictured? I was thinking 10rib at a minimum but that cog system looks nasty. Thanks for the crank info, good to know. I wonder if my current K1 crank would be up to the task.

my t-case is all stock with the exception of the custom input gear to mate to the 4l80. im considering going to a 4wd t-case . for a 50/50 locked split , mine sends power to where it sees slipping and can cause for a buck or a one tire fire. i did just do a tru trac in the rear and im running radials all around . i need to swap to 3.73's though . im out of gear with the 28.8 tire.

i know they have 4.0 whipple setups on lsx motors and could have one made to fit a truck . he just finished up a couple 2.9's

a 10 rib would probably work and be fine , a little slip isnt to bad and allows for some error , cog drives are harder on pullies. not really needed to drive everything, the only thing is pushing the cog past the drive puts even more side load on the crank.

might be worth looking on the new Camaro forums. KB can supply a 3.6ltr Liquid Cooled SC kits for themnow. Think they are also working on a 4.2l LC as well!

I honestly don't know man. I am stationed in Hawaii my car is in Kentucky. Its at my friends house but it has never been installed. I am having him take it back to Kenne Bell to get the liquid cooled option done to it. I am only going for 650 rwhp. I hear anything above that is when people run into problems keeping them cool. Maybe they made some changes to the big ones to keep them cool I don't know though. It would be a cool build though as long as it doesn't have the same problems that plagued the 2.8s. Sorry Im no help.

Its cool man, I appreciate any input. At this point its just an idea in my head, I still have to get my block looked at by LME and my pt88 sold before I move forward with anything.

Wonder how noisy or how loud the " whine" is on these new KB's?

I know the older KB's were loud bitches! LOL

The New one's look awesome, Go for it Richard!

Also check out the off shore boats, lots of them running new KB's and huge whipples.

I saw a couple in person at Baker Engineering.

Well, they make a supercharger for the LS1, so it could be adapted to work on F-Bodies.

My only concern is hood clearance.

I wonder if they redesigned their heat exchanger yet. Everyone thats had one on a vette, that ive read about anyway, has had MAJOR heat issues and low power for what was expected.

I do t think anyone has gotten one to fit an fbody. It's been discussed in great detail on here a few times with people wanting them on their fbody. I never finished any of the threads got tired of reading 6-8 pages of "it will fit, yada yada yada." Vs. " it won't fit yada yada yada.". So to my knowledge there are no kb's on fbodies. I dont think anyone has ever tried, at least not posted anything up on here to prove otherwise.

im pretty sure all the heat issues are the older kb blowers with the smaller intercoolers. i think they beefed up the 3.6 and 4.2 l versions.

imo the 3.6 should be good to 1k hp if you can keep thr iat inline, e85 would be awesome.

the 4.2l is a bit big and would take some serious belt drive to take full advantage of all its power. but could be run at lower psi to make better iats and hp numbers. be a pioneer and do it. id love to help . i live pretty close to kb as well. do it!!
