4l60e

If you're serious about making a reliable FI drivetrain, quit wasting more money on a 60 and get a low mile 80E, install a Transgo HD2 shift kit, and get a good converter like a Yank. If your not on a budget get a 80 built from a sponsor like Jakes.

We use and sell RPM Transmissions. Check one of our GTOs seen here in this video. It makes 830rwhp through their Level 6 4l60E. We have ran over two seasons and hundreds of passes at the track without a flaw. Let us know if we can help you out with it.

From what I hear, the 80e can hold 800hp with just a few small mods. That beats paying 4000$ for the level xx 4l60e. Converting over just requires a new converter, a new or modified cross member, a 120$ harness, and, a little tuning from hp tuners / whatever you use.

OP just think of it this way......
4l60= 700R4 (electronic/internals modified/OD)
4l80= TH400 (electronic/internals modified/OD)
Now yes the 4l80e will be more parasitic due to the mass and weight of internal parts, but that is a compromise of durability.
Now what would be great if they built a TH350 with OD/ electronically controlled.... I would be all over that, less parasitic but would run like hell. I had a TH350 a few years ago with a shift kit and I beat it like it stole something and it never slipped or missed a beat.. A lot of diehard racers prefer TH350's over Th400 due to less parasitic loss and weight.
I said all of this just for conversation purposes, but I am sure a well built 4l60 can be built to last, but its going to cost ya.

Last time I talked to him he's gonna try some things nobody's tried with a 60 and hopes to run 8.8's@160!
