Default 10:1 Compression?

Hey guys im trying to figure out if im gonna be ok with a 10:1 CR on a 402 that gets 93 octane but may switch to e85 ......Also what kinda boost would I be able to run safely with 317 heads? Keep in mind this will be my street/weekend warrior....Car usually sees about 600 miles a summer

I say run it. E85 will allow more boost than 93 obviously. Stock heads can hold 15-20 psi with a good tune.

I don't know if you would get there on 93 without meth, but E85 would probably get you there.

Ya e85 is sold less than a mile from my house so that's prob gonna be the fuel I run.....so with the e85 I should be fine with my build right?

I would run it. Talk it over with whoever is going to tune your car.

My 408 was 11:1 compression and I ran at 7lbs with 93 pump gas, no issues, just a **** ton of torque.

i would think you could reach 700 safely...we built a car where i work with 10.25:1 and 15psi, it made 790rwhp/760rwtq on 93. Now the big secret behind that car was the tune was dead nuts...it had a fast xfi which is sequential making us able to dial in each cylinder. so having said that i could see you safely making 650 to 700 with a stock computer safely with a little less boost.

I never got the chance to take it to a dyno for other reasons, but based on track times it put down around 600hp. This was on a 6400lb truck with 35" 120lb tires, and a 14b axle, so I imagine it would have been closer to 675-700 on a m6 car.

I also been thinking about selling the stroker kit I have and just running like a boosted 370....Is there a reason more people run those than 400+ cubes

I would run the stroker just for the better crank. Yes I know people have had stocker cranks over 1000, but I would be more comfortable with a good crank.

i have a 10.2.1 347 made 650 with a stalled 4l80 on pump gas so 700 with the big cubes should be easy

Check out this APS twin turbo build that we did back at the old shop that is no longer open. Your compression ratio will be just fine. Bob
