Default rearmount owners chime in

So I'm planning on building a rearmount setup after I'm done with my motor, and am wondering how many of you guys are running longtubes? I know its not recommended but I'm wondering about real world experience. Is there a real big difference in spool time? If so how big of a difference is it? I could use the extra money for my build but if it wont kill spool time too bad I'd like to keep them but maybe do a 2 1/2 inch y pipe to help keep velocity up.
Thanks joe

There is a write up on here somewhere, where a guy started out with longtubes and was having trouble building over 8psi with the wastegate pretty well shut. Then switched the turbo out for a a different turbo no difference, then he switch to stock manifolds and wrapped all the hot side and bam 16psi no issues.

The long tubes cause air turbulance or something like that.

I think he said his buddy runs mid lengths no issue, but wrapped them also.

I would say if ur dead stuck on longtubes bc they are on the car and dont have the cash to swap the entire ypipe etc. I would at least wrap everything.

I recommend DEI titanium wrap. Yes it is more money BUT you dont need to soak it, its easy to work with and doesnt fad. I used random Ebay brand on my first build and it was terrible to work with and as soon as it saw alot of heat it would fall apart if you moved it.

Joe -

I have stock exhaust manifolds; as for spool time, after I wrapped my pipes post-manifolds, my turbo acted in a much more progressive mannor and boost started at 2500 RPM vs. the 4000 RPM ON / OFF switch that it had been prior to wrapping the exhaust.

Good luck and have fun!

There is TONS of data and posts on here about how Longtubes = bad for rear-mounts.

I have a 1050RWHP rearmount running on manifolds...

Cool thanks for the input. Could really find anything last night must not have been using the right words.
Jay_rich that is some good info to know. I'm not dead set on keeping my longtubes actually it would give me extra money for my build.
Next let me ask you guys this,
Motor consists of stock topend including cam, shortblock will have scat I beams and mahle forged pistons.bringing my compression to 8.8-1 to 9-1.
any input on this motor set up? I'm shooting for 500-600 rwhp without spinning my motor past 6200 rpm. This sound feasible? I figure the rotating assembly can handle the power fine and with the compression ratio I could cram in the boost to make the number
Thoughts?
Thanks joe
