Forged 346??? Boost???
Question, Who here is running Boost on a stock bore/stroke LS1/LS6 with just forged Rods/Pistons??? And if so how confident do you feel in your motors ability to perform without worring about the big bang theory??? The reason I am asking is that I was currently building a Forged 408 LQ9 for my STS Turbo build on my GTO and now decided to scrap that project and just use my stock LS6 block and just forge the rods/pistons... The Cranks on these motors are good for around a 1000hp so Im just going to pin the crank and run with it... This will save me a TON of money and for the results Im going for "600whp" this should be sufficient enough to get me there and then some... Im going with a upgraded Billet 67MM turbo and planning on running 8-10.5psi of boost... I might scrap the 241 heads and go with some 317's but we will see what happens... Im probably going to go with some flat deck pistons with some good rings and ARP bolts ect... The Valvetrain and fuel system on my car is good to go all I need now is Rods and Pistons... Anyone have any suggestions or input on anything im missing or should do differently... Thanks guys...
EDIT: Also if anyone is wondering how many miles are on my motor it has 30K and is in Excellent running and mechanical order...

I used Diamond pistons/file-fit rings with Lunati rods, stock remanufactuctured crank, LS1 block with ARP main studs, LS6 oil pump, LS6 valley cover and PCV system. The compression is 9.6:1. The engine was built in 2003 and has ran at over 500 rwhp since it was built. I think I have about 30,000 miles on it. I used some stock 241's with upgraded springs and pushrods.

thats basicially what i am doing right now... waiting on my motor from the builder.. stock polished crank eagle rods..(i know they are junk) wiseco pistons.. im hoping to make will over 600 though i want to see 700 or more with it at about 18 psi...

18psi on the stock Turbo??? Thats a lot of boost... You should be able to get 600 with 10psi and a FI cam....

Then went auto changed to 243 heads, Vic JR and bigger cam went 9.8@141mph first pass out. Blew up the procharger. Now in the process of a New motor with Callies HD I beam rods, Diamond Pistons, stock crank and AFR heads. Hoping to be in the neighboor hood of 900-1000 crank HP

Those 8 second passes were the last two passes the engine made, if you search around I think I posted pics of when I tore that engine down. It was in surprisingly good shape.
Except for putting new head gaskets on once I ddnt do anything but change the oil, I never had the bottom end apart, if your tune is good and you keep the RPM realistic its hard to beat..

we made 1142rwhp on my rods/pistons/stock crank 347. It only saw a few dyno pulls at 1050+ before we swapped the running motor out for a aes 408. That 347 had seen over 100+ long street pulls at ~800rwhp. Would have turned it up a little more but I was maxed out on my fuel system at the time.

Well these are the parts ect Im going to be running with for the build.... Gonna keep the 241 heads and just upgrade to a PRC 675 spring... Gonna keep the motor just around 10.1 for compression maybe a little less... Should make monster power with the boost

if your keepin the 241's then why not do a lil port work in the meantime. if your dead set of sts- then so be it, however you may wanna contact someone about making you a custom setup. some people are going oil less now, and you may even get a bigger turbo out of the setup and more reliabilty. Not sure how cheap the custom setups are, but longrange4u is prob the guy to PM about those. other than that

not sure what you have in the rear end or tranny, but there will be other things that will be needed to co exist with the new found torque and power.
