Default 65 gmc panel truck twin turbo pics

here are some pics of the engine of my 65 panel, 5.3 with z06 cam etc. pair of 60's on it. let me know what you think, forgive the hole in the fender, it was from a previous adventure and will eventually serve as my exit out of the engine bay for the exhaust.

Like how everything is PC black. What did you use to cut the hole in the fender? A butter knife?

ya it was a bad expericence. the pipe is going to have a flange around it where it goes through the fender so it isnt seen, might even trim the fenders so that the hole is gone and its easier to route the exhaust,

that damn hole ***** up the whole feng shui of the engine bay. lol. redo it! otherwise it looks good. i'd also consider using v bands at the manifolds.

heres some exterior shots, not the best but im working in a small garage so trying to get that much vehicle into a photo isnt easy lol. and yes the hole WILL be taken care of. thoughts on why v-bands would be better than just straight welding? i figured with only about 10 inches of pipe and the ability to remove the turbos at the flanges v bands would just be another area of possible leakage and headaches.

maybe consider running the turbos the other way around, then tie the exhaust pipes together, having them pull their air from the outside instead of behind the radiator

i didnt really want to run too much exhaust piping through the engine bay, this way il have a very short amount of pipe before the exhaust is out of the engine compartment so im hoping it will help keep everything a little cooler under there, also the ease of running exhaust out of each side is nice aswell, as for the filters i might make some piping that will direct the filters down and pick up cool air from the bottom of the vehicle. im going to be running an A2A intercooler as well so im not too concerned about IAT's at this point.

truck looks great, love the flat black. as for the vbands, i just think it'd look cleaner.

id agree it would look better, i plan on header wrapping all of the piping anyways so to cover up stainless vbands seemed like a waste lol. maybe if i redo the pipe some time il put vbands in and get it all ceramic'd. working with the budget of a 22 year old so cheap is good.

Wow...The most appealing thing is how the 5.3 looks like it belongs there. Just like the factory made it that way. Keep up the good work.

IMO it would look a lot better with the turbos at the same height

thanks those plug wire ends are just regular old school coil boots on the coils with the original ls ends and the wires are msd with the bendable ends and boots on the plug side. as for the turbos looking better at the same height, i figure this looks different, and i didnt like how the drivers side piping would have been so much longer than the passenger side to make both turbos sit the same height.
