Had a guy back out on a deal i had for a turbo so a friend offered me a used BW S372 (72mm). Any thoughts in regards to this going on a budget build 5.3. I know they are very highly rated on other boards but wanted your opinion. Numerous sites mention them out performaing the GT42r..im still learning so thought id ask.

5.3 will have stock internals. 04 Z06 cam. Upgraded valvetrain. ebay front mount. 5.3 manifolds with a VERY nice hot side setup (friend works for Titan and will be helping me). LS6 intake and stock 317s.

Will this be TOOO much for my setup? TOOOO little?

The turbo has about 30 passes on it. No street time at all. $700. I know on ebay these are $1300ish all day.

This will more than likely be in a built 4l60 car. Looking to make 500RWHP and hoping to make 550RWHP

That turbo is perfect, should make at least 700whp if you pushed it, and spool good.

will be a solid turbo setup and decent spool

with a S475 i made 750 out of a 346
i had the S372 on my supra and it made 780 whp @ 30 psi.

should be a decent turbo for your 5.3 motor

ive got that exact setup thats been sitting in my rx7 for 3 years!!

The turbo came off my civic and wasnt sure if itd be right on a 5.3! gotta get back to work on the build!

Dont know how i missed this thread, i think i may go that route for my 5.3 build, looks like a solid large frame turbo, exactly what im looking for

The BW unit is nice indeed. It will outperform the standard cast GT4202, but not the GTX4202.

It will work great, we made 747rwhp with one on a 6l and a T56 trans.

I'm currently doing a build with a 4.8(was told it was a 5.3 but I checked it) and I have a Borg Warner S475 with a .90 T4 housing. I will also be using E85

I'm hoping to make 600+ The motor will be stock other then LS6 Cam and Patriot Dual Golds.
