Its a constant air moving sound at idle, almost can hear it over the charger....it makes a big whoooosh when you start it, while accelerating, makes a big whoosh when you let off...

I never heard the stock one.......

Does anyone know how to adjust their stock ATI surge valve? I can barely hear mine. I am making good boost, but can barely ever hear if it is making a sound or not...

I've never looked at it, but I think there is a little screw/valve to turn that makes it loose or tight, I never heard my stocker either......

There is nothing you can do to the stock ATI surge valve, unless you vent it to the open air which I would not do..

I have a cool BOV you can her all the time. It's a Apex BOV and it's mounted on my intake box before my MAF. Looks and sounds cool.. Look in my sig to see my BOV..

I messed with the adjustment screw before and all it does is adjust how much the butterfly valve opens. Screwing it in will only limit the amount that the valve opens

Thanks guys. I think it is my BOV going bad. I get 1# of boost at 3300 rpms and then that's it..but it sounds like a lot of air is rushing out.... I'll check it out on Saturday and if it is the problem...I"ll be getting a BOV and back to the dyno.

So was louder if you screw it in or out?

Why is that?

Dark,
I have a Vortech bypass on my car and works great. Stock ATI are crap and have a habit of freezing up. Most of the time it's in the open position so that could explain why it's not making boost. If you don't think it's closing make sure you have a good boost/boost signal going to it from behind the TB. Maybe "T" it off your boost gage.

If they are setup stock I don't think you would hear them over the blower whine. If you vent them to atmosphere then you may. I hear mine only when it's about to close a little chirp. I would think if you hear it whistling that the opening is too small causing a restriction.

if all you want is louder, then have the valve open less, but it will restrict the flow. I was thinking maybe knife edging the blade might make it louder too. That way airflow over the blade might be like a whistle. Or you could figure out some way to insert some sort of baffle on the exit side that coud increase noise.

yeah, I think it stuck open. I haven't looked at it yet because I'm without ramps or jack/stands out here. I have to wait until the weekend to go over to my friends house to borrow his stuff. if its stuck open, I'll try WD40'n to loosen it up quick. <crosses fingers> if not, I'll order a new blow off valve/surge valve.

Checked the BOV. Its fine. that means I have a vaccum line that's off somewhere.

I checked all the ones up top(passenger side by the computer) are all hooked up. 1 is for the heater, 1 is to the intake. 3rd is not sure

Up top, they are fine.

The one to the heater controls are good because it works.
The one that goes to the back of the manifold is connected.
The 3rd one, the one I don't know where it goes is the one I'm not sure of.

Other then that.....I don't know what I'm missing.
