Default Turbo FMIC people...where did you mount your trans cooler

I need to order a transmission cooler for my 4l80e. I have a front mount 27 x 15.5 x 4" intercooler with about 6" between it and where my vertical AC condenser/radiator will be. I am running slim puller fans, so mounting the trans cooler after the radiator wont work, and I worried that mounting it between the intercooler and radiator assembly would obstruct airflow (just a theory, correct if I am wrong). My only other option would be a remote trans cooler with a small fan mounted to it. not only is it more expensive for that setup, I would prefer to not have to find a place under the car to mount it (lowered). I was looking for advice from you turbo guys who had to deal with a similar setup.

I used the sweet B&M one with the fan on it. It comes with its own thermostat and comes on at 175*. I have a GTO, but I had the same problem, no room. I ended up mounting it horizontally in the back of the car underneath. Been working great for 2 years now.

It looks like your trans cooler (pic) has a fan mounted to it? Is that necessary mounted at the feont of the car provided the radiator fans move enough air?

Depends where you want your transmission to run at, converter, tire etc etc. But I will post a pic of the one that I am mounting in a few minutes. It is huge.

I love that setup. I may end up redoing mine the same way. Right now mine is in between my front mount and my vertical rad. Plenty of room. I even have a small fan I thought about putting on the trans cooler. I just dont know if it'd do any good.

Do you have cooling issues in its current location?

I have mine mounted under the passenger side floorboard. It's a B&M 28k cooler with a thermostatically controlled fan that kicks on at 180 and won't cut off till 170. Keeps the car cool in the staging lanes at 180-190 all day and after a pass.

I can even sit in the lanes with the car off since it's wired to run hot and it will cool it at a standstill off or running. I accredit this to the big cooler, but it works.

I didnt before, but that was with the stock rad positioning. The trans would get up to 200ish on hot days, but normally stays around 170ish. I just have that little fan lying around, and figured why not?
