Default My custom C6 91mm turbo build thread! DYNO VIDEO ADDED!

Ok guys so long story short last year the car had a A&A Blower on it and the timing chain broke on me, and as you know down time really gets you thinking crazy things and thats how i got here lol ok first some back info!

The break down of whats going on:

08 C6 Z51

418 LS3 By Lab of Lindenhurst.
-Callies Compstar H beam Rods
-K1 Forged Stroker Crank
-Wiseco forged -32cc coated pistons
-67cc LS3 Heads done by Frankie Ford(local Guru)
-ARP Head studs
-Comp Cams 247/247 627/627 118LSA
-Katech C5r Chain
-Ported LS3 oil pump
-Yella Tella Rockers
-Ati Super damper crank pulley

Fuel System:
-Stock pump with an external Fuel Lab 1500hp pump
- -8 Feed and -6 return
- Fuel Lab boost ref. Fuel pressure regulator
-FIC 1300cc Fuel injectors
-Aeromotive Fuel rails

Turbo kit:
-Custom hot and cold side using all V-bands
-CX Racing 5" thick Intercooler
-Garrett T6 GT 91 Turbo with a 1.08 A/R
-JSG 60mm B.O.V and Wastegate
-Custom Griffen Radiator with -24an fittings

Drivetrain:
-Stock Rear and Trans(for now) with DTE BRACE
-Spec T-Trim Twin Disk Clutch
-CCW DRAG PACK 17x4.5 & 18x12

Just to give you a heads up that 1.08 housing on that turbo with the 418 might be too small. I am running the same exact turbo setup on a 390 and at only 8 psi was seeing 15 psi of backpressure which was opening the wastegate early on me so I am stepping up to a bigger turbine housing. Just something to look at when you get her going.

Really? That's strange Forced inductions suggested I go with the 1.08 for street duty

Ya im building the car, and jose at forced inductions said this size housing wouldnt be an issue till over 1000whp, it sounds like u may have other issues causing too much backpressure cause on a 390 that housing is plenty big enough

Well we shall see here within the next week and I will post back my results once we get the bigger housing on and see what happens.

Well I got an update for you man about the housing issue I posted a few weeks ago. The bigger housing did fix my backpressure issue and on 14 psi with the exhaust cutout open my car made 865 rwhp, pretty healthy if you ask me. Just something to look out for.

what housing did you switch too. I am building a very simular motor to yours and dont want to have the same problem.

I had to switch to a 1.39 AR housing.
