it has arp head bolts not studs. we have studs for a 6.0 stock bottom end we have when this one blows. turbodiesel is the master mind tuning this project. if not for him this thing would not have lived as long as it has. we look at it like big deal if it blows. its a $400 motor. lol atleast we will know what it will hold.

this is probably a very very stupid question, but...
How much of role does the light 3100lbs play in making this stock bottom end motor last?
I can remember someone on here making 825 on an lq motor at one point, but it was in a heavy *** gto and when the pulled it apart, i want to say the rods were bent.

i would say that it helps alittle. not much strain on the engine as a heavier ride, but who knows. we have been told by some big time engine builders that these rods and pistons are a little tougher than people give them credit for. expensive parts don't make it go faster, just lives alittle longer. we have to see to believe. you could take a good look at a t bone by sticking your head... well you guys know the deal. lol

Nice S10!
Yes we know the rods will bend at 950hp or so. Dave was making 825rwhp for two seasons at 19psi and running 9.9@142 @ 4050lbs raceweight. He turned it up to 23-25psi for a couple weeks and bent a few rods. Nothing catastrophic but you could hear the pistons touching the counterweights. He just put another LQ9 in it and leaves it at 19psi now.
You will be there pretty soon with the S10 too!

Nice, I'm just waiting for someone to take the record so I can get some motivation to throw the car back together. I threw the motor/tranny in my ltd for the time being with a billet 76mm, now it should be making around 175rwhp more than it did on my easy 8.9 pass. I think 8.40-8.50's is doable with more passes, maybe this fall I'll toss it together, I'm pretty sure the record will fall before then. We'll be helping a guy put together a mustang 6.0/88mm setup that I think should outrun my times.
