i sold the gt45. it was an awesome turbo for a cheap ebay deal. just knew the 88 would move more air is the reason we sold it. for the money it worked well. in that last video it went a 6.45 with me letting out of it. 113 i think was the mph. it had the 60' and mph to run low 6's maybe a high 5.

I think 8.40-8.50's is doable with more passes, maybe this fall I'll toss it together, I'm pretty sure the record will fall before then. We'll be helping a guy put together a mustang 6.0/88mm setup that I think should outrun my times.
you definitely set the mark. would have never thought these motors would live like they have. its fun to have something to shoot for. you gave us some motivation to surpass the 5.80 you ran and maybe we can set a good one for you and others to shoot for. we just don't have easy access to a 1/4 mile track so ours will be 1/8th mile times. once we find the limitations to this engine we have a 6.0 to do as well. thats the only suck part of the 5.3 we have found with the 88. it doesn't spool well. also the 6.0 will have a custom cam and springs instead of the ls6 stuff in it now.

It's been alitte while since I had my car there it used to have a turbo Buick in it. I will definitely come by next time. Once I get my tune start it might be fun to line them up.

These motors are amazing on what they will take in stock form.

Looking back at my slips it went 3.79 in the 330 and 5.80 at 122 on my 8.9 pass off the footbrake with 686rwhp. I switched to ATF to loosen up the converter and switched to my transbrake transmission and it went 3.72 in the 330 and 5.90 at 98mph on the brakes(not completely 8.50 track legal) with only 555rwhp. The next pass is when I put it on the bumper and cracked the oil pan.

The cars getting a glide, losing some weight(about 150lbs), and better turbo setup, should make ~850rwhp next time around, just need the motivation to get it done.

usually 6500 to 6700 is all. we don't over rev this thing at all. thats where i think rod and piston failure will start.

If you watch the launch in slow motion you can see a bad bump-steer issue. Which didnt arise until we started really throwing power at this chassis. HAHAHA, the truck will run 6.20's all day long. But turn it up to 5.80 territory, the issue reared its head

It will be fixed before the next time out thats for sure.

Just to answer some PM's The truck has a powerglide, transbrake, a PTC converter and we are running 3.08 rear gears. and yes its an Iron lm7 dished piston 5.3 with 6.0 heads. We wanted to run an lm4 aluminum dished piston motor but due to the combustion chamber size and the headgasket sealing on the outer edge of the steel sleeve we kept it all Iron.

amazing build and its amazing what you can do with these stock motors for not a lot of money. my motor is $150. thats the equivalent of two trips to the track lol.

question, what rpms are you revving this bad boy to?

If you regap the top ring to the same gap as the bottom ring you will less likely bend a rod. I've read the rods bend from the tight stock ring gap closing down. The thing is hauling for sure. It really has LS6 springs, I can't imagine it not floating the valves?

if anything the rings would butt and break and/or scuff the cyl walls.

Yes, I prefer it, but the converter was just made too tight. Even now that the same converter is in my ltd and making a lot more power it is still too tight with tractor fluid.

Thanks a lot! That should be fast enough for me. My Grandnational don't run that! Can you give details on how you ran oil to the turbo fitting& lines, are you running a oil cooler? Wow3.08 gear! I have swapped a LQ4 in my 1981 T/A, it came with 3.08s. Where is Brained I live in GA, don't think Ive been there, you ever come to Carolina Drag way? Think my car will be a lot heavier, but I will see.

So if my hp goal is 750 whp and more street manners than the ls6 cam would work well
