Default Anyone running two fuels/tunes?

So here's the deal, I live in Los Angeles, (**** Occupied) CA and I really really really want to run E85 in my car, problem is A) Nearest E85 station is 22 miles and B) I'd like to drive drive a lot.

After weighing my options, I've pretty much put the 91 Oct/100% Meth combo on the shelf for now, I'd really like to two fuels; 91 for play, and E85 for business.

So is anyone currently doing this? Pros? Cons? What the right/wrong way to go about this. This isn't an issues of fuel milage, but more fuel avalibility. Thanks for reading

Do you think two seperate ecu will work or is it just a timing issue when switching over from 91 to e85...nyame???

Frost is/was working on a dual tune PCM. It could be switched back and forth with just the flip of a switch. I run the shitty 91/Meth just fine but E-85 is obviously a good choice as well.

Firestone Union 76 (6/24/2011)

Look into buying your own tuning software.

Blue00, I read your thread today at work (great car btw, I might have to come check you out if the Steelers play the Chargers) And your build is near what I'm going for. I remember the dual PCM but I think it was just a prototype. I'm almost positive it can be done, I don't mind keeping a drum of E85 in the garage, i just want to be able to still run CA 91

That's exactly why I haven't yet. When it becomes more popular and local, I might switch over. What wiring where you talking about though? Frosts PCM would just require the flip of a switch to change between the pump and E-85 tune.

I was refering to my buddy asking about 2 physical PCMs

Jankes, you mean like the HPTunes suite right? Thats what I was thinking, and having the two configurations; 91 and E85; a netbook and a terminal cable...

the easiest way right now would be to either have your own software or two different PCMs... it takes 5 min to swap a pcm on a f-body

That would work just as good too! I might endup switching when I get my new heads and shoot for 20+ psi to be safe. I remember reading a little bit about your combo awhile back. What is it now?

@blue (i assume your talking to me), I'm jumping on the 370 band wagon with twin TC70s, seem to be the perfect diplacement and gets 3700# cars into the 8's

Ryne, I was just about to call you guys and ask about this. So if I were to provide tuning software and computer (or seperate PCM), in theory its possible...

But what are the pros/cons

I'm pretty sure you can buy one of Frost's PCM's from his site.

Actually:

http://www.tunedbyfrost.com/products_df01.htm

They put 2 PCM flash chips on the same board. So you have 2 completely separate memories to store 2 separate tunes on.

well i use may own hptuners, as long as you have hptuners as well you can just save each tune and load them as needed.... if frosts computer is available that is a good alternative as well

Injectors injectors injector. This is your major problems. You need to flow 30% more fuel. Getting injector that can support your max power on e85, then switch to 93 and expect it to idle. This is the biggest problem. Everything else can be done it is very simple. This is what i have gathered as i wanted to do the same. I have spent a lot of time on the phone with steve williams from tuned by frost. This is from the horses mouth. Hope this helps. I do think they will be able to make injectors to get the job done eventually. Remember this is harder to accomplish the more power you are making. I was shooting for 1000 fwhp. Hope this helps

Something like the ID2000's would be able to do either, provided the tuner would build 2 completely separate tunes including injector tables.

The holley dominator ecu i believe has up to 3 different tunes. I will be doing a 100% meth for race day and e-85 for playing hard and a 91 gas tune just in case i get in a bind and can't find e-85. I also have 16- 66lb injectors though. Once i get this beast on the dyno i can post results.
