Default KY-Turbo Build

Figured i'd make a build thread since all the parts are in and we can start putting this thing together. Planning on pushing this motor to atleast 15psi @ lsx fest this year, it'll be a learning curve since i've raced it on the jug for 2 years now. The goal is for it to eventually be a 9 sec. street car, last year i drove the car about 400 miles round trip on radials and skinnies to lsx fest and ran 10's with the 150 pills / cam only.

Engine:
forged 346ci LS1
comp 22x/23x .61x/.62x 115 lsa
new bearings
317 heads
total seal rings
dual springs
melling oil pump
RPM head studs

Turbo:
KY-Turbo front mount manifold kit
Stainless plumbing
46mm pte wastegate
tial bov
PTE 7675 Billet Turbo
4" IC
14" downpipe

Thanks again to Josh from kyt&p, and my tatershack boys in Nashville. God knows i bugged the hell out of em for questions just to get to where i am now with the build.

Here is a picture of the car from camaro performers jan 2011 edition...

I will be buying almost the same kit from KYTP within the next few weeks. Talked to Josh the other day about upgrading the turbo the pt billet. You leaving the radiator in the stock location or moving it upwards? Look forward to following your build.

From what everyone's said and everything I've read, you can't go wrong with a billet wheel...

Hell the only turbo car i've ever drove is my 2011 VW GTI haha so it should be a change of pace.

The plan is to keep the radiator in its stock location, and just use pusher fans. The kit should clear the stock radiator, if it doesn't i'll go with an aftermarket.

I think its the truck manifold kit looking at the crossover pipe flanges. The A/C kit uses stainless works headers that use vband clamps.

Fun, fun build!!

That thing is legit! what kind of boost were you running? I'm hoping to make 650-700, but really don't care, it went mid 10's with 480whp.

A 9.99 is all I want, it should be deep in the 130's if i hit the goal... Just want it to be a tough street car, nothing too radical.

I think you will make that goal and some I made 640 at 10-11lbs. through a T56, I'm guessing I make 550-600 now through the stalled 80e and a Moser 12.

I think you will absolutely love the turbo it hits like a freak of nature and pulls to 7k all day if needed.

Awesome, I'm just gonna keep turning the boost up until it hits 9's this fall. I'm hoping no more than 18psi, we'll see.

Thats why i went with a healthy cam for a turbo car, its not too radical but i want to be able to spin it high.
