Still waiting on that from builder... Should have it soon (emails sent). I know it was real late coming on because of the 4.10 gears. I wasn't happy about that. But... that leaves room to grow / improve, right?

Default Dyno pull shows boost on guage

Here's the video of the dyno pull with boost control set at 6psi. As you can see, full boost comes in pretty late. That's what I get for not planning my project better (4.10 gears... doh!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dq4-p51QfFk

Hope the link works.

Also, I run out of gear at 115 mph in 3rd. uggh. Enjoy!

Good numbers on 10psi. Do you have everything wrapped?

You see, I was off to find the answer to his question, but that comma was starting to annoy me, so I corrected it. Then I came back and read through the thread... he can find the answer for himself.

That's true. Also, the A/R is a .96 which doesn't help me now (gears and low boost). BUT... I did ask him to spec me a turbo that I can grow into. Once I go forged, get the 3.42 rearend, and bump up the boost, the .96 A/R will work better for that setup. I'm happy for now with the numbers I got.

Hell, with the 4.10 gears, I can't get traction as it stands. It's kinda like a 2 phase setup I guess. I get all the low end torque out of the 3200 stall and 4.10 gears, and then once I get down the road, the Turbo kicks in. I'm telling myself that at least...I guess. lol

We'll see how things go on Friday at the track. Wish me luck. Any guesses on ET times and trap speed?
Example:
1/4 ET: 11.99 @ 115
1/8 ET: 8.00 @ 95
60 ft: 1.85

Wrap the crap out of that exhaust or ceramic coat it (expensive) and I would bet things pick up some. That is one of the things I dislike about rear mount. See if you can find zombie's thread detailing his findings about his rear mount. Good read.

Yeah. I was happy to see the peak at 550 @6000 rpm and still pulling. Got dyno graphs today, only hp vs mph. Unfortunately none with hp vs. rpm and no cross referenced boost info.

Wrapping - No. Nothing really wrapped. Just what you see from the rear to cover the welded downpipe to exhaust tips and the turn into the turbo... Last 3 feet of pipe entering the Turbo (Muffler elbow), for looks. I've been thinking of wrapping it though... y pipe back to Turbo. Not sure how much that will help. I think I'm going to shoot some exhaust pipe temps from manifold to turbo... see what changes there are... Harbor Freight Laser Thermometer....

I concur with sarg. Check zombies thread. He's done the leg work for us. Wrap should make a pretty decent difference. I'm wrapping mine up with about 1" overlap. I think with my setup I should spool reasonably quick. Guess ill know in the next month

I wonder how the bb vs non bb 76 w/96 a/r spools?, pretty sure I'm going to buy one to replace my big heavy laggy holset
I have no idea the a/r on my holset but it has a 74mm turbine wheel , so I think going to a on3 should help out my spool time greatly

If anyone wants a couple 70mm with the .82 open turbine housings I have a pair. The guy that wanted them does not know when he is going to be able to come up with the money, so selling them for now and we will get some more when he is ready. These would be great for twins with the open housings.

With the size turbine that these have, I would think the .96 would actually be a little on the small side. The main thing that is killing him is the loss of heat from the front to back. Turbos rely on the exhaust pulses and heat to get them moving. This is quite evident in Zombie's experiments where wrapping the exhaust greatly quickened his spool and made more power to boot!

This is one of the main reasons I do not care for rear mounts. The couple times we have done rear mounts were all on rear engine cars Other than that we try to avoid them. If I WERE to do one though, I believe I would use both ceramic coating (if you want to do it on the cheap Autozone has VHT...very high temp...paint) and header wrap. Stainless steel exhaust combined with ceramic coating and wrap would probably make a pretty big difference.

I know about the disadvantages of a rear mount , therefore is the reason I have a front mount
I'm just curious of the bb vs journal bearing spool time with everything else being equal
I know about spool valves but unfortunately I cannot fit one in my setup , I made one into my holset but with it being DIY homemade I've had consistency issues with it , thereforei want to switch up to a turbo that will give me better spool times without a sp

Flywheel no problem ,if it will do 700 rwhp is the real question
These turbos are the same thing as a tc76 as far as specs go , so it should be able to make the same power
