I will do that! I plan on being down relatively often. I'm definitely going to go to the first Cars and Cafe that I can make (July hopefully!).

Got a little more done.

Bolted the PG up to the motor just for a test fit. 1973, meet 2005.

IMG_7209.jpg?t=1338746945

Moved the rad support about 6" forward and welded in. It looks REALLY good and will work well. Now that's done, I can move on to getting the engine bay painted this week. There's light at the end of the tunnel!

IMG_7210.jpg?t=1338746869

I also got my trim ring installed. I had originally ordered a plain circular piece and got sent this in error. I'm not sure which one I'll use just yet.

Here's where the car is as of today:

(this is just a cut and paste from another forum)

Since I was installing the engine/tranny by myself, lots of covering was necessary

IMG_7360.jpg?t=1340588121

Engine in and bolted down (trans is still resting on a jack as I have to move the mount ~6" forward):

IMG_7361.jpg?t=1340583649

Space with the relocated radiator support:

IMG_7363.jpg?t=1340583583

Space behind the motor... about 1-1.5"... perfect...

IMG_7365.jpg?t=1340583575

Intake installed:

IMG_7366.jpg?t=1340583564

Headers/turbo installed:

IMG_7368.jpg?t=1340583359

IMG_7369.jpg?t=1340583534

Relocated fusebox:

IMG_7376.jpg?t=1340583525

VERY tight fit... but it will be nice and snug:

IMG_7387.jpg?t=1340583513

Front view. Note the tranny cooler lines... they ended up being the perfect length.

IMG_7390.jpg?t=1340583390

IC tubing installed:

IMG_7392.jpg?t=1340587758

IC installed:

IMG_7391.jpg?t=1340587748

OK, so I'm getting close but there's a still a lot to do. Mainly a bunch of tig welding which a friend is doing this week. I'll post more updates then.

Thanks guys! I've been working on it everyday after work for the last week. I REALLY want to start it up next week.

Last night we got the fittings welded to the radiator and water pump. It only looks like I planned it to fit this well... believe me... I just got lucky LOL.

I'm not going to run one provided my IATs are OK. If they are high (due to the location) I will build a CAI.

I spent some time yesterday and washed the car as it was pretty dusty (this is a requirement in a busy body shop). I rolled it outside for the first time in 9 months:

93f6b2c6.jpg?t=1341494046

b48455e9.jpg?t=1341494071

I realized when taking the pictures that the radiator is crooked

It's only off about .5" but it's going to drive me up the wall. I don't know how I can resolve that though since everything is already painted. I may just leave it be, we'll see.

I also ordered plugs and wires. MSD 8.5mm wires and BR7EF plugs.

(Copy and pasted from YB)

I realized the other day I never updated the thread. Still haven't had the car out, but it's pretty much done now at least. I bought a house, got a new job, etc. so I never did get it finished for last summer. Oh well... it will finally be ready for next summer.

I'll be swapping the LS6 cam out for a LilJohn spec'd cam, too. No other changes will be made.

When these cars have the right stance and the right wheels they are real good looking cars. You car is one of them.
It should fly the way it is even with the LS6 cam. The only thing I would have done a little different is that I would have run the exhaust out the back.
