I have a t72 with a t3 flange. iits a rear mount system and i am trying to keep that t3 flange that is welded on the pipe that the turbo connects to.
so with that t3 flange i am trying to go with with smallest turbo i can polsibly do. im only trying to have 5psi. i dont really care for the extra boost and i am not trying to think about the future when i might build my motor. i just want the smallest one for now that i can just bolt up.
thanks

If you have a t72 now the best i can think of is maybe a 60-1? not sure if you can get it in a t3 flange... I understand not wanting to run more.... but its only like 40 bucks to get a mild steel t4 flange... Would widen your options and still get you were you want... just a thought...

not hating at all....i guess you dont realize just how bad of an idea it is since my comment got your panties all in a bunch...... anyway try a master power unit, t70 if you want quicker spool with a q trim wheel also.... in real life when people say dumb **** i just walk away

a t3 setup would spool at a rediculously low rpm making traction an issue, and probly make peak power in the 4000 rpm range and totally die after that. It would be nearly impossible to keep header gaskets in it with the amount of backpressure you will see, lol would probably drive like a turbo deisel golf

that master power seems like its bigger than mine now... im lookin for the smallest i can go.. im not trying to make mad power... another reason i dont wanna change sizes is becuase i have all AN feed and return flanges that were expensive for a t3.. what about a garret 60 trim?

should get full boost before 4500 with a 72mm turbo....maybe the spool issue is coming from something else?, for ex i get full boost at 4300 with my 88mm. obviously cam, cubes and many other factors come into play ........somthing just doesnt sound right about your setup

What type of exhaust do you have? If spooling slow is what is wanting you to change the turbo Id see what you could do to get it to spool fatser befire dropping 500+ on a decent turbo.... rear mounts can have alot of variables as to why it isnt spooling sooner...

Timing, air fuel ratio, exhaust header primary size, collector size and length, size of the exhaust feeding the turbo are all big players in any turbo set-up, they are just amplified more in a rear mount set-up.
Man, sounds like your in a predicament, I'd honestly stick with the turbo you have now, and try to make it spool faster.
Just for example my PT7675(76gts) hits full boost between 3900-4300 rpm depending on weather conditions, timing, air fuel ratio, and what gear I am in, stopped or at a roll. Also if your car is a manual it will take longer to spool the turbo especially between shifts, if it's an a4 it will keep the turbo spooled from the moment you floor it.
