Whipple Supercharger for the Gen 4 F-body
#222
I disagree...
The 4th gen F-body is looking to become the new 5.0 Fox body Mustang. Cheap buy in, less weight than current pig F-body, great mod/hp to dollar value, huge (growing) aftermarket and junkyard builds are a cake walk.
I think 4th gen F-bodies will have some staying power in the market and plenty more cash can be milked out of this platform.
Oh... Go Ron Paul

i can't help but comment, the term 4th Gen F-body has been thrown around a lot in the past 12 pages of posts but does that include all 4th Gen F-Bodies or just the LS[enter number here] family? i think it would be pretty eff'ed up if advertised for the F-Body but not including the LT1 side of the house that also falls under the same title. so is this system going to be available for the LT1 side or is it to much of a challenge to make it work? some clarification on what 4th Gen F-Body this poll actually applies to being that the LT1 and LS[enter number here] both fall under the same flagship

I, for one, never assume LT1 when someone says "4th gen f-body" ... and not to be an ***, but, despite there being a LTx sub-forum, this is LS1tech.com With that and the popularity of LSx engines, you almost always have to specify LT1. To me, gen III and IV are the default. I own an LS1 f-body so I guess I could be biased!

^^couldn't agree more, not to belittle the LT1, in my mind its "4th gen" or "LT1 4th gen", and the kit is for the LSx, i would think that since the LT1 and LSx are completely different engines and theyre trying to gauge interest in an LSx kit, that there wont be one for the LT1

I hope one day the 4th gen follows but not there yet.

I feel ya man! My first 4th gen was an LT1. I bought it in 03 so by then LS was all the rage. Parts were a little easier and cheaper to find for the LT back then but that didn't last long. When that car went down I bought an LS1 WS6. Parts are easier to come by, they are cheaper, and far more supported nowaday. I get that the LS platform has greater capabilities regarding modding, durability, weight, etc. but I still like my LT1 car (still have it and just got it running again recently after about 4 years) For the longest time I prefered the looks of an LT car as opposed to an LS car. Now I'm kinda torn from one day to the next. I also didn't used to like girls with big asses either but now I'm kinda diggin them.
All that being said, I just keep the LT because I love it and I save the LS for modding. I think it's nice to see some LS interest in this department. It would be awesome to see a kit for the LT's as well but I doubt that will ever happen. I think most people consider the LT platform as caveman technology at this point. I'm still skeptical on the LS kit as well. It sucks too because I think my LT cause "feels" torqyer' around town and is a little more fun to drive some days. Maybe that's cause it's an auto versus the stick in the LS.
I'm glad I have the LS so I dont feel like the red headed step child with an LT1 still but it still blows.

Gen II: 5 years.... 1992-1997
Gen III/IV: 15 years...... 1997-current
Sorry, I'm just saying that there might be a reason LT1's only lasted 5 years. I know LT1's can be built to make some serious power, but as was previously mentioned aftermarket parts are becoming scarce for the LT1, and the GEN III/IV aftermarket is booming. and... this is ls1tech

the title says "whipple supercharger for the Gen 4-Fbody" Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the second half of the 4th Gen F-body only last 5 years also,1998-2002? .. *edit/deleted*.. 4th GENERATION F-Body which includes all 1993-2002 Firebirds and Camaros. If it is in fact aimed at just the LS1Fbody community it should be made more clear. Being an LT1 owner I would be VERY interested in whipple system over what I have right now and I'm sure many others would love to swap out their intake manifolds for a blower on top as well. I understand the marketing aspect of why everything is LS based. *edit/deleted*.. i'll stop making a ruckus,, because i have an LT1

The title might indeed be as you state, but it is also located on a website called ls1tech.com, not LT1tech.com.
From a manufacturing standpoint it makes very little sense to develop a product for an engine family that was only implemented on a limited basis. The LT1 appeared in 1992 in the Corvette and in 1993 in F-bodies. Corvette production lasted until 1996 and F-bodies until 1997. As a contrast, the LSx engine family has been implemented in F-bodies, Corvettes, Gen5 f-bodies, GTOs, G8s, and most importantly, trucks.
I lived in Bowling Green, KY for a number of years and I have seen the kind of people that drive C4s. No offense is intended, but on average, let's just say these people are not interested in performance.
So don't get your panties in a bind...

I don't. This is just one site of many for people with 4th gen LS1 cars. Not to mention all the people out there that don't bother with the internet and just do mods on there own. So I'm sure if they takea ratio of the number of Yes votes,to the number of members on this site. That could give you a pretty good ratio of the intrest in this product. I would have to say that 10% is a fair number. Up to 409 yes votes. So if they can sell 41 to just people on this site right now. I think that's pretty good especially if most parts are common to other kits. The problem will arise when they have to make a one off part for our cars only. Then it comes down to how much R&D money is spent on producing that part.
